Major Championship - U.S. PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
There are no questions left to be answered. Valhalla answered them all once again, for a fourth time at the PGA Championship, and Xander Schauffele did everything he needed to do to capture his first major title, right down to the bitter end when his 6-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole trickled into the bottom of the cup.
Schauffele arrived in Louisville as the World No 3 after not closing the deal the previous week on the PGA Tour. He politely answered questions early, then went out on Thursday and shot 9-under 62 to set a PGA Championship scoring record and vault on top of the strongest field in golf. He continued to answer questions, and each day, put it all into perspective, knowing that the job was nowhere near finished.
Finally, on Sunday, Schauffele went out and collected seven birdies against one lone bogey to shoot 6-under 65 and hold off hard-charging Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland, who shot 64 and 66 respectively. Schauffele finally has his major, shooting 62-68-68-65 for a 21-under-par 263 total. Overtaking Rory McIlroy in the Official World Golf Ranking now ranked No 2.
“I was actually kind of emotional after the putt lipped in,” Schauffele said. “It's been a while since I've won, and I really just – I kept saying it all week, I just need to stay in my lane. Man, was it hard to stay in my lane today, but I tried all day to just keep focus on what I'm trying to do and keep every hole ahead of me. Had some weird kind of breaks coming into the house, but it's all good now.”

Japan Golf Tour - Kansai Open Golf Championship
Takahiro Hataji, in his 10th year as a professional, finally clinched his maiden JGTO victory by rebounding from a disastrous start and securing a three-shot win over Yuta Sugiura at the Kansai Open Golf Championship in Shiga Prefecture on Sunday.
Hataji, trailing by one shot entering the final round at MeishinYokaichi Country Club, crafted a three-under-par 67 to finish with a winning total of 14-under 266. The 30-year-old displayed resilience with five birdies to counter his early bogeys on the third and fourth holes.
This triumph allowed Hataji to make amends after finishing as runner-up to Taiga Semikawa in the same tournament last year at Izumigaoka Country Club in Osaka, which stood as his best JGTO result until then. Ironically, Hataji had earlier ended his quest for a maiden professional win abroad by capturing the New Zealand Open title, a tournament jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia, in March.
Despite the win, Hataji had been struggling to make headway back home, with only three top 30 finishes in the first four tournaments of the season. However, perseverance paid off for Hataji, as this victory now establishes him as one of the players to watch going forward.
The penultimate round leader, Taisei Shimizu, could only manage a 72, settling for solo third on 270, one stroke behind Sugiura, who climbed from T6 with a 67. Kensei Hirata, who was tied for second alongside Hataji at the start of the day, struggled to a 73, leaving him tied for fifth with Ryo Ishikawa (65) and Taisei Sato (67) on 272.

Korn Ferry Tour - AdventHealth Championship
Higgs holed out for eagle from 83 yards at the 72nd hole of the Korn Ferry Tour’s AdventHealth Championship, ultimately landing a spot in a playoff with Tanner Gore at 19 under at Blue Hills Country Club outside Kansas City. Higgs won with a 7-foot birdie on the first playoff hole, again the par-5 18th, an outcome that delighted the spirited observers in Higgs’ home region (he was born in Philadelphia but grew up in nearby Overland Park, Kansas).
Higgs moves from No. 75 to No. 7 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, well positioned to earn full TOUR status via the top 30 on the season-long standings after the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance in October. That would be a better spot than the TOUR conditional status on which he currently plays, after finishing 144th on last year’s FedExCup Fall standings.
It has been a trying few years for Higgs, whose game hasn’t always matched his larger-than-life personality. With his hometown win, he makes a giant step in rectifying that gap.
“All these folks here, they've watched me grow up,” Higgs said afterward. “It’s nice to give them a moment where somebody that they … definitely know and hopefully love, watch someone like that achieve one of their goals.

PGA Tour Americas - Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship
Harry Hillier maintained a 54-hole lead to claim his first PGA TOUR-sanctioned victory and win by eight strokes at the Inter Rapidísimo Golf Championship. With this being the final event of the Latin America Swing, Hillier moved to No. 2 in the Fortinet Cup to secure conditional status on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour, and lock in exemptions to the Korn Ferry Tour’s first four Latin America events next season (Panama, Bogota, Argentina, Chile). Additionally, he will continue to compete in the season-long race for the Fortinet Cup, as the top 10 players at the end of the season will earn fully exempt status on Korn Ferry Tour in 2025.
After shooting a record-breaking 13-under 59 on Friday, Hillier took the solo lead for the first time this season and maintained a five-stroke lead over James Swash throughout Saturday’s third round and into the final round on Sunday. A 2-under par front nine followed by a bogey-free, 3-under par back nine cemented Hillier’s dominance of the leaderboard. He extended his lead to eight strokes with a birdie on the 17th hole and finished with a par on No. 18 to finish at 26-under for the tournament.
When asked about the meaning of his victory, Hillier explains the nature of tracking down his first win and sharing the triumph with others on his team: “I'm stoked, I'm over the moon. I cannot wait to get back to Kansas City and celebrate with my friend, my brother. I'm sure I'll get a FaceTime from Mom and Dad here soon… this isn't just me, this is my team, the guys that have helped me out, Mom, Dad, sponsors. I'm just the one hitting the golf ball, they're the ones doing the most help. Yeah, I'm over the moon and I'm glad I get to share this one with them. It means a lot,” says Hillier.

Alps Tour Golf - Gosser Open
Austria’s Maximilian Steinlechner, 24, wins the 2024 Gösser Open after making a par on the 1st playoff hole against Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue. He earned the winner’s check of €5,800.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. He followed his opening round of 5 under-par, with a 4 under-par in round two and an amazing 8 under-par to end the tournament at 17 under-par. Steinlechner mainly plays on the Challenge Tour, but nonetheless, he was very excited to be able to compete this week in his home country.
After his win, he was very pleased as this was his first win in his home country:
“So starting the third round, I knew the winning score was going to be low as the weather forecast was good. The few more putts that dropped today made the difference between me shooting 64 today and the first two rounds. In the playoff, I did the exact same thing as I did in regulation. Played my game and followed my strategy and got lucky that my opponent made a bogey while I made a solid par. It feels great to have my first win here in Austria, it’s great. I’m going to go enjoy it.”
