PGA Tour - AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Wyndham Clark earned his winning moment at Pebble Beach, his self-described “favourite place in the world.”

It required one less round than expected, but semantics will fade with time, as Clark earned his third career PGA TOUR title at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and etched his name in the history books in the process. Last year’s U.S. Open champion is now also a champion at arguably the game’s grandest venue. Clark’s win came on the strength of a course-record, third-round 60 at Pebble Beach Golf Links that gave him a one-stroke lead into the final round at 17-under 199, which eventually meant victory as the final round was cancelled Sunday evening after heavy storms rocked the Monterey Peninsula through the day.

Clark didn’t battle the nerves of back-nine Sunday contention, but he handled comparable pressure Saturday as he chased a sub-60 score, and the crowds grew. As the birdie putts continued to fall, the anticipation heightened – and he was aware. He had an eagle putt for 59 but left it just short, and the crowd rose for a standing ovation after he tapped in for 60. It was akin to what he might have expected after victory on Sunday afternoon.

“It was kind of surreal; it really felt like I won the tournament with that two-putt even though it was a Saturday,” Clark said on Sunday evening after the victory was made official. “I think that was because I broke the course record. Everyone gave me a standing ovation. It honestly felt like the end of the tournament and that's what made yesterday so unique and weird because I would have thought that it was Sunday. So that's what made today and all of last night very unique; it felt like I won the tournament, yet I still had one rounder.”

DP World Tour - Bahrain Championship presented by Bapco Energies

Dylan Frittelli won his first DP World Tour title in six years with a two-shot triumph at the Bahrain Championship presented by Bapco Energies. The South African started the final day at Royal Golf Club with a two-shot lead but was overtaken at the turn and two over for the day after 12 holes as a host of players staked a claim for the trophy.

Frittelli is not a winner on the DP World, PGA and European Challenge Tours for nothing, though, and he made three birdies in four holes from the 13th, signing for a 71 and finishing at 13 under. Countryman Zander Lombard and Swede Jesper Svensson were his nearest challengers after rounds of 68 and 70 respectively, two shots clear of another South African in Ockie Strydom and Frenchman Frederic Lacroix.

"It feels great, it feels awesome," said Frittelli, who missed the cut or withdrew from 23 of his 27 starts on the PGA TOUR last season. "It's been a long road the last five or six years since I left the DP World Tour and went to the States. It was a pretty tough year last year in America but it feels awesome to back on top right now.

"Last year I was in a couple of spots where I thought I was giving the game up to be honest and looking for something else. I found some resolve at the end of last year and got some good work from my physio and my coaches and trainers. I'm glad I persevered and all the support from family and friends has been well worth it."

"I think it shows my mental toughness, it shows the focus I have and those things that you can't really quantify. I was swinging it great all week and then all of a sudden couldn't hit it on the planet on the Sunday round so I'm glad I managed to have the resolve."

Korn Ferry Tour - Panama Championship

The Korn Ferry Tour produced its youngest winner in history last week in The Bahamas, and this week it delivered one of the most decisive victories in its history, as 26-year-old Isaiah Salinda rolled to an eight-stroke win at The Panama Championship, tying the fourth-largest margin of victory in Korn Ferry Tour history.

Salinda, who shared the 54-hole lead with Canadian Wil Bateman, closed in 5-under 65 and totalled 12-under 268 for the tournament. Playing alongside Bateman in the final pairing, Salinda was the only player in the final five twosomes who shot even-par or better, and he was one of only four players who carded a 65 or better Sunday at Panamá Golf Club.

Salinda’s eight-stroke win marked the largest margin of victory at a Korn Ferry Tour event since Sam Ryder’s eight-stroke win at the 2017 Pinnacle Bank Championship. It also shattered the tournament record for margin of victory (five strokes) established by Jimmy Walker at the inaugural playing of The Panama Championship in 2004.

And Salinda did it all at a venue that finished with one of the five highest scoring averages relative to par in 16 of the last 19 Korn Ferry Tour seasons, including five seasons (2004, 2008, 2009, 2019, 2023) with the highest scoring average relative to par.

At 12-under par, Salinda posted the lowest 72-hole score at The Panama Championship since 2017, when Andrew Putnam defeated Chris Baker in a sudden-death playoff after the duo finished regulation at 13-under 267. Even more impressive, in the last four iterations of the event leading into this year, the only player who finished at least 10-under par was Davis Riley in 2020.

“The golf course is amazing. I'm very excited to win here in Panama,” Salinda said. “I think the only time I looked at the leaderboard was on No. 9 or 10… it was still stacked. After No. 12 I knew I had a pretty good cushion and didn't look at any leaderboards after that.”

Sunshine Tour & Challenge Tour - SDC Open

Rhys Enoch produced a faultless final round to secure a two-stroke victory in the SDC Open, the opening event of the 2024 Road to Mallorca. The Welshman carded a fourth successive six under par round of 66 to reach 24 under par for the week and ensure he finished two strokes clear of South African duo Deon Germishuys and Martin Rohwer.

Enoch, who becomes a two-time Challenge Tour winner and secures a first triumph since winning on the Sunshine Tour in 2021, was delighted to return to the winner’s circle in South Africa.

“I feel relief weirdly, I don’t know why,” he said. “It’s been three years since I last won and I think once six months goes past after you win, you start thinking ‘when am I going to win again’. Especially after the year I had last year, I’m just super happy to be playing the golf I know I can play. To win here is a wonderful bonus. To start the year and get on top of the Challenge Tour and get my full status on the Sunshine Tour really changes things and helps me out.”

Enoch started the day one stroke off the lead but made three successive birdies on his opening three holes to move into the outright lead. Another birdie at eight followed and at the turn he led by three. The 35-year-old bogeyed the 11th but three gains in his next four holes saw him extend his lead once again. A dropped shot at 17 reduced his lead to one shot but a birdie at the par five 18th made sure of victory.

Enoch, who secured playing status on the DP World Tour at Qualifying School last year, was delighted with how he held his nerve over the final 36 holes. “I was significantly better under pressure today than I have been before which is really the whole goal of what I’m trying to achieve,” he added. “I felt in control over the back nine yesterday and with how I played today.”

PGA Tour of Australasia - Vic Open

Victoria’s Brett Coletta came out on top in a head-to-head duel with Jordan Zunic to claim the biggest victory of his career at the $420,000 Vic Open today. After starting the final round on the Beach Course at 13th Beach Golf Links two shots from the lead, Coletta fired a sensational 7-under-par 65 to claim his third Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia title and move to second place on this year’s Order of Merit.

Zunic, who ended up two shots in arrears following a 67 to be -16 overall, went birdie for birdie for Coletta – the duo combining for 11 birdies and an eagle overall for the day. Victorian Andrew Martin (68) charged late with four birdies in his last five holes to match Zunic in a share of second.

On an enthralling final nine, playing partners Coletta and Zunic were level with four holes remaining before the 27-year-old Victorian moved clear by picking up shots on the par-4 15th and 16th holes, sealing the deal with a purely struck fairway wood onto the green on the final hole.

From the Sandhurst Club in Melbourne’s south, Coletta came into this week with three top-10s on the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia this season to be 20th on the Order of Merit, but he can now seriously eye off the huge career rewards which come with a top-three finish at the end of the campaign.

“This was an 18-hole duel. Fortunately it was my day today,” said the new champion, who admitted he was nervous last night thinking how about important this Sunday was to his professional career. This is pretty big. I’m pretty emotional inside. I know I’m able to win out here in the smaller events, the tier twos I suppose. The next level is to really up your game and win these bigger ones. Hopefully I can continue the trend and roll the dice at the bigger events, the PGA and the Australian Open.”

ProGolf Tour - Red Sea Egyptian Classic

Dutchman Mike Toorop (71, 68, 67; -10) wins the play-off for victory at the Red Sea Egyptian Classic against Frenchman Marius Cara and celebrates his first title on the Pro Golf Tour. Belgian Yente van Dooren and German amateur Carl Siemens share third place at the Ain Sokhna Golf Club.

The second event of the 2024 Pro Golf Tour season provided an exciting and extremely demanding final. Cool temperatures and strong gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour presented the 50 final participants with a real challenge. The players only managed five rounds under par on the final day of the Red Sea Egyptian Classic 2024 at the Ain Sokhna Golf Club. The best final round was achieved by Dutchman Mike Toorop, who defied the wind and signed for a 67 (-5). His overall score of -10 was the mark that his competitors had to reach.

Thanks to a birdie on the 17th, Frenchman Marius Cara, who had started the final round as the leader and signed for a 72 (par) at the end, succeeded in doing so. A play-off had to decide which of the two would celebrate his first title on the Pro Golf Tour. After Cara twice failed to capitalize on a putt to win, he had to watch on the third extra hole as Toorop made birdie and was thus crowned the winner. "It feels really good," said the 24-year-old from Noordwijkse GC. He accompanied his ball into the hole with a loud "come on" shout as he made the winning putt.
