PGA Tour - Wyndham Championship

Lucas Glover earned his fifth PGA Tour title in emotional fashion, carding 20-under total at Sedgefield Country Club for a two-stroke win over Russell Henley and Byeong Hun An. With the victory, Glover vaults from 112th to 49th in the FedExCup standings and punches his ticket to the Playoffs.

To a man, and to a woman, they all knew how significant Sunday – when Glover won the Wyndham Championship – was for him. His grandfather, the late Dick Hendley, who would have turned 97 that day, and that rainbow arching high over Sedgefield Country Club seemed the perfect tribute as Glover pointed to the sky.

“He got me started playing and was my mentor and my hero,” said Glover, whose kids Lucille and Lucas Jr. were on hand to see him win in person for the first time, too. “Tried not to think about it too much until the end there.

“Like to think I had a leg up on everybody today because of that. Still had to do what I had to do.”

It wasn’t easy, either, even with divine intervention looming like the mist that settled over Sedgefield after a rain delay of just over two hours. Glover came back out and parred his final four holes while Russell Henley, his nearest challenger, bogeyed his last three.

The closing 68 gave Glover a two-stroke victory, the fifth of his PGA TOUR career that began in 2004, and landed him in the FedExCup Playoffs. He had started the week ranked No. 112 but left Greensboro suddenly headed for Memphis and the FedEx St. Jude Championship, ranked a solid 49th.

Japan Golf Tour - Yokohama Minato Championship ~Fujiki Centennial~

Nakajima stages fightback in the rain to clinch one-shot victory. Keita Nakajima secured his second JGTO title in six starts when he overcame a two-shot deficit in the rain-affected final round to become the first-ever winner of the Yokohama Minato Championship - Fujiki Centennial on Sunday.

The 23-year-old dazzled with a five-under-par 66, which included six birdies and a single bogey, to finish his campaign on 13-under-par 271 at the Yokohama Country Club in Kanagawa.Nakajima beat his nearest competitor, Taiga Semikawa, who also carded a 66, by one stroke.

This marked Nakajima's third JGTO victory of his career, with two amassed within less than a year after he turned professional in October last year. It was just two months ago when he won the ASO Iizuka Challenged Golf Tournament. Nakajima celebrated his first triumph at the 2021 Panasonic Open, at the time still an amateur.

"This course is tricky, and the lead doesn't mean much. I can't control the scores around me. I focused on playing well," said Nakajima. "Winning against a truly competitive player like Semikawa gives me confidence."

Nakajima moves to his best position held in the Official World Golf Rankings now ranked inside the top 150 at a 127th.

Challenge Tour - British Challenge presented by Modest! Golf Management

Alex Fitzpatrick is a winner on the European Challenge Tour for the first time after producing an outstanding final day charge to win by five strokes at the British Challenge presented by Modest! Golf Management at St. Mellion.

The Englishman, who finished tied 17th at The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool Golf Club two weeks ago, registered a four under par round of 68 to go with rounds of 72-66-70 to reach 12 under par for the week and win by five shots ahead of Welshman Stuart Manley, Frenchman Tom Vaillant and fellow Englishman Ross McGowan who shared second.

The 24-year-old carded just four bogeys all week in testing conditions in Cornwall, and catapults into seventh place on the Road to Mallorca Rankings to close in on promotion to the DP World Tour. Fitzpatrick was delighted to secure a maiden win on the Challenge Tour having come close on several occasions already in 2023.

“I’m ecstatic,” he said. “I feel like I’ve been playing some decent golf and I’ve been putting in a lot of work. It’s just nice to see it finally pay off.

“Sunday is always tough. You know people are going to make a move and luckily I was the one that did. I couldn’t be happier.

“Over the past year on the Challenge Tour, I feel like I’ve put myself in contention quite a lot. I did it in India and in the Netherlands but not got it over the line. It’s been an amazing week and I’m very happy to get it done.”

Asian Tour - Mandiri Indonesia Open

Thailand’s Nitithorn Thippong prevailed in the Mandiri Indonesia Open today after a gripping finish here at Pondok Indah Golf Course – confirming he has recaptured the kind of form that established him as one of the region’s most exciting young golfers last year.

Having started the day with a comfortable five-shot margin, he was pushed all the way to the finish line, closing with an even-par 72, for an 18-under-par total, and a two-stroke triumph over Australian Scott Hend, Steve Lewton from England and Chinese-Taipei’s Lee Chieh-po, who all carded 68s.

Hend, chasing his 11th win on the Asian Tour and first in four years, came closest to catching him but, playing in the group ahead, hit his tee shot on the par-five 18th out of bounds and made a costly double bogey.

Nitithorn had appeared to be in complete control at the turn after two birdies and no dropped shots on the outward half to open a substantial lead on 20 under but dropped shots on 12 and 13 to give hope to his three nearest challengers.

However, he was able to par home to secure his third Asian Tour title and put behind him a poor first half to the season, when he was shadow of the player who recorded two breakthrough victories last year, in The DGC Open presented by Mastercard and the International Series Singapore.

Said the 26-year-old, whose nickname is ‘Fever’: “Wow, amazing! Like, I feel so happy about this win you know. Back the last few weeks I didn’t feel confidence like this, but after I played some rounds before, I came here and I just figured out my swing, got some good feelings and transferred to this tournament. Like I said the past few weeks, I was like how to hit, even how to impact the ball very well, I really struggled on my swing. But right now, I feel better, amazing!”

Korn Ferry Tour – Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank

Canadian Roger Sloan capped a final-round 5-under 66 with birdies at Oakridge Country Club’s par-4 17th and 18th, hitting back-to-back approaches inside 10 feet, including a near hole-out to set up the winning putt, en route to victory at the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank. Sloan’s closing birdies moved him to 24-under par for the tournament, one stroke ahead of runner-up finisher Christopher Petefish, who did not make a bogey all week.

Sloan became the first Korn Ferry Tour winner to birdie the final two holes of regulation since Trevor Werbylo won the 2022 Lake Charles Championship in a playoff, and Sloan became the first regulation winner with birdies on the final two holes since Brandon Matthews’ birdie-eagle finish at the 2022 Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard.

Sunday’s win snaps a winless drought of just over nine years for Sloan, who earned his only previous Korn Ferry Tour win at the 2014 Nova Scotia Open in his native Canada.

“It feels great,” Sloan said. “To (win) here is special just because this place reminds me so much of being back home. I love Salt Lake City. It’s a great place. Anytime you win, though, is very special. This one, my family was here. To see my kids run onto the green and hug them, that’s a moment I’ll never forget.”

PGA Tour Canada - Windsor Championship

Sam Choi, who hasn’t missed a cut since joining the PGA TOUR Canada just two months ago, secured his first win on Sunday at the Windsor Championship. The rookie, who also has recorded the most top-10 finishes this season, closed his memorable round with a 7-under 64 – matching the low score of the day -- to claim a three-shot victory.

Choi emerged from the pack at the scoring-friendly Ambassador Golf Club and took the lead for good with a birdie on the 13th hole. Despite a bogey on the 14th, Choi added birdies at No. 15 and No. 18 and finished at 25-under 259 – the lowest winning score in an event this season.

“It’s amazing. I finally … finally … got the job done,” said Choi, who jumped into second place on the Fortinet Cup standings. “I finished in so many top fives and top 10s coming into this tournament and I knew I had to play good golf out here. Just fortunate to stay in first place.”

There was a six-way tie for second place with Canadian Stuart Macdonald (67), the USA’s Cameron Sisk (66), Alex Scott (67), Devon Bling (68), and third-round co-leaders Ryan Linton (68) and Jeffrey Kang (68) all finishing three strokes behind Choi at 22-under 262. Tied for eighth at 21-under were Canadian Lawren Rowe (67) and Americans Joey Vrzich (67) and Luke Schniederjans (69).

Nordic Golf League – BWT Championship

An exciting duel as the victor was decided with a three-way show down and the victory came to Danish Morten Toft Hansen, when the final round at the BWT Championship was played at Kokkedal Golf Club. First one led, then the other and finally Morten Toft Hansen could roll a 1-meter pair put safely in the middle of the hole for the win.

A relieved Morten Toft Hansen spoke after the round ‘’It's been hard, it's not easy to win and it hasn't really worked for me until now, I drove the ball really well, and was good at cleaning up within 10 feet’’, when asked about the recipe for going 20-under par over three rounds on Kokkedal GK.

Morten ended up claiming the victory with a 3 shot difference to 2nd place finisher Per Langfors. Morten shot a total score of – 20 (65,63,68) to claim the BWT Championship.

Big Easy Tour - Altron Big Easy Tour 3

Robin Williams claimed a hard-fought victory over Jordan Duminy in the Altron Big Easy Tour tournament that was held at Soweto Country Club on Thursday.

It took five sudden death holes to decide the victor after both players finished on five-under in regulation. Williams entered the final round of this 54-hole event leading by one stroke on seven under while Duminy was two shots back.

Duminy shot an even-par final round while Williams struggled to a two-over-par round which reduced his total for the week to five-under, setting up a playoff with Duminy. The first hole of sudden death saw both players make bogeys and necessitated another trip up the 18th hole which ended the same way; with both players making bogeys there.

A par for each player on the third hole of extra time meant another trip to the 18th tee box and once more, both players made par to keep things even in front of a lively Soweto crowd. With both players visibly tired after the fourth hole, Duminy made a bogey on the fifth extra hole while Williams was happy to make par there and walk home with the title.

“I didn’t know my situation on the 17th hole in regulation because had I known that I still had a two-shot lead, I would have played 17 and 18 differently,” said Williams in the aftermath of his victory. “I was a bit disappointed with how I played in the playoffs because I felt like I got lucky a couple of times when we both kept on making bogeys. But the main thing is that I got the job done.”
