News for the 14 Eligible Official World Golf Ranking Tournaments

PGA Tour – TOUR Championship - 72 Hole Scores

Viktor Hovland played the best golf of his life in the final two weeks of the PGA TOUR season, and it paid off Sunday with the biggest trophy of his career -- a FedExCup title along with the $18 million bonus.

Staked to a six-shot lead, Hovland didn't flinch under a relentless challenge from Xander Schauffele. The 25-year-old Norwegian stayed on the attack and closed with a 7-under 63 for a five-shot victory at East Lake.

“It's pretty surreal to be standing here right now,” Hovland said after receiving the silver FedExCup trophy. “I played basically my best golf the last two weeks and it couldn't have happened at a better moment.”

Hovland capped off his best season with three victories. Even more staggering is that he played his final tournaments -- the BMW Championship at Olympia Fields and the TOUR Championship at East Lake -- in 36-under par.

Schauffele made him work for that $18 million and got to within three shots with seven holes to play. Hovland ended the suspense with a 25-foot par putt on the 14th hole, and he put Schauffele away with a 10-foot birdie putt on the 16th. Schauffele and Hovland put on a superb show. Playing in the last group, on a day that was delayed nearly two hours by thunderstorms, they had the best scores of the day.

The 63 by Hovland was the lowest Sunday score for a TOUR Championship winner. “I thought 62 would have let me get close to him,” Schauffele said. “He played unbelievably well. He made important putts and he’s just played like a champ.” Although Hovland won the Tour Championship the OWGR points were shared between both Schauffele & Hovland as they both shot the same score over 72 holes without play off. Both receiving 35.29294 world ranking points.

Korn Ferry Tour – Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron

Chan Kim officially locked up his first PGA TOUR card in historic fashion Sunday at the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron, as he carded a second consecutive bogey-free 7-under 64, totaled 28-under 256 and tied the fourth-lowest 72-hole score in Korn Ferry Tour history, in addition to becoming the first player since the Tour’s establishment in 1990 to win an event without making a single bogey.

Kim, who won last week’s inaugural Magnit Championship, also became the 12th player (and 13th occurrence) in Korn Ferry Tour history to win back-to-back events. The last occurrence of back-to-back wins on the Korn Ferry Tour came in 2021, when Cameron Young and Mito Pereira both recorded back-to-back victories across four consecutive weeks.

“This is what I came here to do,” said Kim, who became the seventh player declared #TOURBound, signaling he is assured of finising in the top 30 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List and earning PGA TOUR membership for the 2024 season. “That was my goal from the beginning of the year. I took the risk of coming over here to play instead of just playing in Japan.”

DP World Tour – D+D Real Czech Masters

Todd Clements claimed his maiden DP World Tour victory as he carded a brilliant bogey-free 63 to hold off the challenge of Matt Wallace and win the D+D Real Czech Masters. The Englishman made three hat-tricks of birdies from the first, sixth and 11th to record his lowest round in a European Tour group event and finish at 22 under, one clear of countryman Wallace, who was also bogey-free in his 67.

The four-time DP World Tour winner hit a wonderful approach into the last to leave himself nine feet to force a play-off but missed on the high side and it was Clements who was left celebrating at Albatross Golf Resort.

Dane Nicolai Højgaard signed for a 69 to finish four shots off the lead, one clear of Scot Robert MacIntyre, who extended his advantage in the race for the third spot on the Ryder Cup team available on the European Points List ahead of next week's final qualifying event at the Omega European Masters.

Swede Ludvig Aberg, German duo Nick Bachem and Maximilian Schmitt, Finn Sami Välimäki and Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti were also at 17 under.

Clements won the English Amateur in 2017 but had played events on the MENA Tour before turning professional following the 2018 US Amateur.

Challenge Tour – Dormy Open

Jacques Kruyswijk birdied his final two holes to claim a maiden European Challenge Tour title at the Dormy Open. Round four in Sweden was cancelled due to the weather conditions, meaning the tournament would be decided after 54 holes.

The South African was one of several competitors who returned to Askersunds Golfklubb on Sunday to complete their third rounds after play was suspended due to heavy rain on Saturday. With just three holes left to complete, the 30-year-old was two strokes behind overnight leader Aron Zemmer. But after the Italian dropped two strokes, Kruyswijk finished par-birdie-birdie to claim the title by two shots as he signed for a four under par 63 and a nine under total.

“Ecstatic. That’s the only word I can think of,” said Kruyswijk. “It’s been a long week for all of the players. We’ve had so much rain, the course was flooded and last night I knew I had some work to do, I was prepared to play 20 holes. I was thinking to just get into the clubhouse with a score but I played 17 fantastically and played 18 unbelievably. I’m very happy with my finish.”

“The 18th was solid, 4-iron down the middle of the fairway. I had 182 (yards) to the flag and my caddie said let’s just hit a full shot into the flag. So, I hit a 7-iron which finished around a metre from the hole. I was a little nervous around that last one, it’s not a gimme but managed to go in the middle of the cup so I’m very happy.”

A three-time winner on the Sunshine Tour, with his last victory coming just a fortnight ago at the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Zebula, Kruyswijk has now set his sights on a return to the DP World Tour at the end of the season. With his victory, Kruyswijk climbed 256 places on the Road to Mallorca Rankings up to 47th. Frenchman Ugo Coussaud moved up to second on the season-long standings after his runner-up finish, also moving back inside the Top 500 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

Sansan KBC Augusta – Japan Golf Tour

South Korea's Song Young-han claimed victory at the Sansan KBC Augusta on Sunday, marking his first JGTO win in seven years. Song became the only third foreign player to triumph in the Tour's full-field events this season, following Juvic Pagunsan of the Philippines (Golf Partner Pro-Am Tournament) and Jbe Kruger (Shigeo Nagashima Invitational Sega Sammy Cup).

Even though he held a three-shot lead stepping onto the par-five 18th tee at Keya Golf Club, the 32-year-old encountered a late scare, but a double bogey was nevertheless enough for him to win by one shot from second-placed Ryutaro Nagano.

Song carded a three-under-par 69 in the final round, culminating in a 17-under-par 271 total.

This win ended his frustrating wait for a second triumph, his last being the SMBC Singapore Open in 2016.  In that memorable event, he defeated then-world No. 1, Jordan Spieth of the United States by one shot.

It was certainly a well-deserved victory, as Song has been one of the most consistent performers this season. Out of 13 starts, he missed only one cut, securing his best finish—a tied second—at the BMW Japan Golf Tour Championship Mori Building Cup.

Identifying himself as a proud full-fledged JGTO player, Song expressed joy that his persistence finally bore fruit.

"I'm a JGTO player, and I've always wanted to win in Japan. It took a while to secure my second victory, but I'm thrilled,"

“Today, I wanted to play in a way where I don't lose to myself, where I could conquer my own challenges.  I'mhappy, but there are still many things to learn from today. I'm glad I won, but it truly was a learning experience." said Song

Asian Tour – St Andrews Bay Championship

The Asian Tour sensationally witnessed the longest sudden-death play-off in its history today, when young Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra defeated veteran Matt Jones from Australia on the 10th extra hole at the inaugural St Andrews Bay Championship.

Chacarra made a par on the par-five 18th, two putting from 30 feet, while Jones, 20 years his senior, missed a five-footer for a five at Fairmont St Andrews – after one of the most exciting ever finishes on the Asian Tour. Both players had birdied the final hole in normal time to finish tied on 19-under, with Chacarra carding a five-under-par 67 and Jones a 69.

Australian Andrew Dodt (68) and Jaco Ahlers (69) from South African finished one stroke short of the play-off. Chile’s Mito Pereira and Gaganjeet Bhullar from India both returned 70s and were another shot back.

The previous longest play-off took place at the 2001 SK Telecom Open in Korea, when local player Charlie Wi triumphed after seven holes against countryman Kang Wook-soon and Simon Yates from Scotland.

“It was a long day,” said Chacarra.

“Happy it came out my way, but I mean, Matt had a tremendous day as well. Tremendous 10 holes, I think we all know he’s a great player. Thank you very much it came out my way but I’m sure Matt will win a lot of more events.

“It was amazing, I think the Asian Tour is doing amazing things. I mean, they’re growing the game of golf and I had a lot of fun. We normally don’t get these good days in Scotland, so it was awesome. I mean, obviously I got the win so it would make it a little more fun, but it was awesome. Yeah, thanks to the Asian Tour International Series for what they’re doing and hopefully we can come back a lot more years.”

Asian Development Tour – BNI Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament

India’s Yuvraj Singh Sandhu took advantage of a hot putter to win by four shots in the final round of the BNI Ciputra Golfpreneur tournament on the BSD course at Damai Indah Golf today. Playing in the penultimate group at the US$125,000 Asian Development Tour event, he posted a bogey-free round of 65 to finish on 23 under par as his rival contenders fell by the wayside.

Overnight leader Ho Yu-cheng was only able to manage par in the final day, finishing in solo second at 19 under par (269). Also playing in the final group were Thailand’s Jakraphan Premsirigorn (71) who finished in a tie for third place on 18 under and India’s Samarth Dwivedi (72) who slid back to eighth spot (272).

Sandhu revealed after his round that while he was enjoying his first international victory, he wasn’t expecting to win as he was in the penultimate group of the day.

“It still hasn’t sunk in yet,” he said. “Until the 14th or 15th hole I honestly didn’t even know if I was even co-leading or something, but then I made birdie on 15, and then on 16, and I thought, you know maybe I might have a chance, so why not push a little bit harder.

“I was only looking at the board that was with my group and I had no clue what the scores were in back or ahead, but as I walked up to the 18th green and saw I had a lead, I wasn’t expecting that for sure.

PGA Tour Canada – CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open

Hayden Springer used a birdie binge over his final nine holes on Sunday to break from the pack and run away to a three-shot victory at the CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open, marking the first win of his Tour career that has seen him play in 29 events since turning pro in 2019.

Springer, of Trophy Club, Texas, one of three co-leaders to start the final round, jumped into a tie for the lead with a birdie on the 12th hole, the first of four in a row that allowed him to pull away. Springer closed with a 6-under 66, matching the low round of the day, and finished at 21-under 267 at Southwood Golf and Country Club.

“It’s one of those things that can feel elusive, getting your first win,” Springer said. “You don’t know when exactly that’s going to happen. I feel like I’ve always believed it’s possible, so it’s pretty cool to get that done today.”

Canadian Etienne Papineau made a charge on Sunday and shot 67 to finish alone in second place at 18-under. American Sam Choi closed with a 69 and took solo third at 17-under. Tied for fourth at 16-under were Canadians Joey Savoie and Johnny Travale, who began the day tied for the lead and both shot 71, and China’s Charles Wang, who shot 69.

The victory moved Springer all the way up to No. 7 on the Fortinet Cup points list. Choi passed Davis Lamb to take the lead in the points race and Papineau moved into third place. The top-five finishers on the Fortinet Cup standings earn status on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour. He also moved considerable places in the Official World Golf Ranking now ranked inside the Top 700.

ProGolf Tour – Staan Open

Andoni Etchenique played out his experience on the final day of the Staan Open 2023 and secured his second title this season thanks to rounds of 66, 64 and 66 strokes. With an overall score of -17, he is one stroke ahead of compatriot Clement Guichard (-16). German Max Griesbeck shares third place with compatriot Martin Obtmeier (-15) after an excellent 62 (-9) in the final. A third Frenchman, Antoine Auboin (-14), rounds out the top 5.

Three tournaments in three weeks: The Pro Golf Tour is currently traveling through the Netherlands and with the Staan Open the second event of the unique Dutch Swing took place on the beautiful Golfbaan Westwoud at the Westfriese Golf Club. Whoever wins the special ranking, which was introduced especially for the three tournaments, will receive a starting place at the KLM Open 2024 on the DP World Tour. And Frenchman Andoni Etchenique is a big step closer to this great opportunity thanks to an outstanding week in Westwoud.

Etchenique went into the final round one stroke behind his two compatriots Louis Bonte and Antoine Auboin. The atmosphere in the all-French group was relaxed despite the tight battle. "It's always nice to play for victory with other Frenchmen," said Etchenique, who got off to a very good start to his round. The 24-year-old recorded six birdies in the first twelve holes. Even the interruption of rain in the meantime did not take him out of his rhythm. It was only when he saw that he led with a small cushion that nerves came into play.

Big Easy Tour – Altron Big Easy Tour 4

Orkney Golf Club’s Andre Van Dyk carded a blemish-free seven-under-65 to claim a wire-to-wire victory in the fourth Altron Big Easy Tour tournament at Huddle Park Golf Club on Wednesday. That score took his tournament total to 18-under-par to give the 22-year-old his maiden professional win while also earning his first Altron Big Easy Tour title.

“It was really tough to lose my Sunshine Tour card earlier in the year and this win just means so much to me,” said Van Dyk. “And then, coming to the Big Easy Tour, I missed all the cuts in the first three tournaments. I then told myself that coming into this one, I would not be playing to make the cut but I wanted to try to win.

“It was a challenging week from the get-go but I was lucky to start well on the first day because I feel like the week gets easier when you score well on the first round; you have little pressure and you are not chasing. And then, it got really tough in round two but I was happy with the way I played because I was still in the lead and I knew what to do today to get the victory.”
