Taylor Moore moves into the Top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time after his first win on the PGA Tour and is headed to the Masters next month.

PGA Tour - Valspar Championship
Taylor Moore delivered the clutch shots to move into contention, closed with a 4-under 67 and won the Valspar Championship on Sunday when he avoided the mistakes that cost Jordan Spieth and Adam Schenk. In only his second year on the PGA TOUR, the 29-year-old who grew up outside Oklahoma City is now headed to the Masters next month.
He was on the practice range preparing for a playoff and missed a wild finish on the Copperhead course at Innisbrook. Spieth was tied for the lead when he sent his tee shot into the water on the 16th and managed to stay in the game by getting up-and-down from 163 yards to salvage bogey. On the par-3 17th, which yielded only two birdies all day, Spieth hit 4-iron to 6 feet -- only to miss the birdie putt.
No one was paying all that much attention to Moore until the 29-year-old who played at Arkansas started hitting one quality shot after another. He stuffed his approach to 2 feet on No. 12 for a birdie. He effectively won the tournament with one great swing and one great putt. On the par-3 15th, he took aim at the back right pin to 6 feet and made birdie to get within one shot of the lead. And then he holed a 25-foot birdie on No. 16 to join Schenk in the lead.
Moore got up-and-down for par with a long bunker shot on the 17th, and he two-putted from about 70 feet just off the green at the 18th to finish at 10-under 274. He then won while warming up on the range for a playoff that never happened.
The victory for Moore was worth $1,458,000 and moved him to No. 9 in the FedExCup standings. Along with a trip he might not have been expecting to the Masters, he gets in the PGA Championship. He moved from No. 103 to just inside the top 50 in the world.

DP World Tour & Sunshine Tour - SDC Championship
England’s Matthew Baldwin claimed his first victory in his 200th start on the DP World Tour when he won the SDC Championship, which is co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, by seven strokes at St Francis Links on Sunday.
Baldwin closed with a 68 to win on 18 under par and dedicated his victory to his late stepfather. “It’s been a tough 12 months. My stepdad died last May, and this is for him,” he said.
Spain’s Adri Arnaus took second place on 11 under par with a final round of 67, while Jaco Ahlers finished as the leading South African in tied third place on 10 under par with a final-round 68.
“It’s unbelievable,” a relieved Baldwin said of his win. “It’s my 200th start so I’ve had plenty of opportunities. It’s just an unbelievable feeling right now.”
It was a long weekend of golf for the field, and which Baldwin managed superbly. The wind that forced the suspension of the earlier rounds meant the third round had to be carried over into Sunday morning, with Baldwin finishing this with a solid 65 which lifted him to 14 under par overall. The Englishman had a four-stroke lead over Norway’s Kristian Krogh Johannessen going into the final round and was never challenged.
“I played well all week. I was so steady out there and I think that maybe put the pressure on those around me to try and play more attacking golf, and I was fortunate to come out on the right side of it.”

PGA Tour of Australasia - Play Today NSW Open
Mercurial David Micheluzzi pulled off a stunning last-day coup at Rich River to win his third tournament of a remarkable season at the PLAY TODAY NSW Open on Sunday. Moving to his best position held in the Official World Golf Ranking now in the Top 400.
The 26-year-old Victorian has closed out the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour Order of Merit with his two-shot win in the $400,000 tournament, unreachable at the top with just one tournament remaining next week. He has previously won the WA PGA Championship and the TPS Sydney tournaments, and he looks ready to take on the world. It is the first three-win season on the Australasian Tour since Robert Allenby’s famous 2005 triple crown.
A former world top-five amateur, Micheluzzi will get that opportunity soon; his Order of Merit victory will give him a start in the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, and top-three on the OOM gives him a ticket to play on the DP World Tour from the start of the 2023-24 season.
Micheluzzi grabbed the Kel Nagle Cup and a $72,000 prize cheque with a dazzling 65, coming from five shots back, and at 20-under he won by two from Kade McBride, the Queenslander who led into the final round.
“It feels pretty awesome,” said Micheluzzi. “I hit it awesome, didn’t putt my best but gave myself enough chances, and I’m stoked to be here.”

Asian Tour - The DGC Open
Filipino Miguel Tabuena fired an inspired seven-under-par 65 to win The DGC Open presented by Mastercard at Delhi Golf Club today and claim his first title on the Asian Tour in just over four years. The 28 year old, six behind overnight leader Rashid Khan from India at the start of the day, confidently glided around DGC’s challenging Lodhi Course shooting seven birdies and no bogeys to finish on 12 under and beat Khan by one.
Khan, himself chasing a first Asian Tour victory in nine years, closed with a 72, while Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat finished one shot back to claim third place outright with a 68. Tabuena, playing in the penultimate group, gradually reeled Khan, who started the day with a three-shot lead over countryman Chikkarangappa S, in and was four behind him at the turn, thanks to three birdies, before a brilliant back nine saw him catch and overtake the Indian.
“I feel great,” said Tabuena, who becomes only the second player from his country to win in India after his legendary compatriot Ben Arda’s success in the Indian Open in 1969. “I have been playing well, very well for the past few months and I really believed that another win was coming very soon. I told myself to just stick to the game plan, you have been playing awesome the first few days.”
The win completes something of a comeback for Tabuena who only just kept his Tour card on the Order of Merit in 2022 taking the last spot and who had to deal with the trauma of his father having a heart by-pass last year.

PGA Tour Latinoamerica - Termas de Rio Hondo Invitational
What a debut. Making his first PGA TOUR Latinoamérica career start this week, Jake McCrory of Deer Park, Texas, walked away the winner of the 2023 Termas de Rio Hondo Invitational Sunday. The 27-year-old defeated Jesús Montenegro of Mar del Plata, Argentina, in a playoff hole to claim the title after the two finished regulation tied, at 19-under 269.
McCrory sank a 10-footer for birdie on the first playoff hole to lock up the win and charge into a tie for fourth in the season-long race for the Totalplay Cup. He also moved into a tie for third in the battle for the Zurich Argentina Swing, a competition that will crown a new winner next Sunday, at the conclusion of the Roberto De Vicenzo Memorial 100 Years in Buenos Aires.
McCrory’s final stretch provided some drama, and he responded to the pressure, parring 16 with his ball on the cart path and then making a great up and down at the par-3 17th. The last hole provided him a chance to move past Montenegro, but he missed his birdie putt.
“I hit a really good putt (on 18 in regulation), which actually helped me in the playoff because I pretty much had the same line, just on the opposite side of the hole. It went in the second time,” he said of the straight 10-footer he made in overtime to defeat Montenegro, who walked away with a par and runner-up honors.
McCrory now owns full status on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and is in position to battle for better status at the next level. “I haven’t really thought about it too much,” said McCrory when asked how this win changes his playing plans for the year. “It definitely will pique interest to what I do for the rest of the year.”

ProGolf Tour - Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic
Spectacular final round to kick off the 2023 Pro Golf Tour season in Egypt: In windy conditions at the Ain Sokhna Golf Club, Christian Bräunig secured his first title on the Tour with a 70 (-2) on the final day of the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic 2023. The German started the final round one stroke behind Antoine Pouguet after a 70 and 66 and pulled away from his opponent on a thrilling back nine with a spectacular eagle on the 17th hole. At ten under par overall, he brought a one-stroke lead home.
Of course, nerves played a big role in this close duel. On the final six holes, Bräunig managed two birdies and an eagle - but at the same time he also had to record two bo-geys. "It was very stressful at the end," admitted the 30-year-old from St. Leon-Rot Golf Club, who has the experience of 65 starts on the Challenge Tour, but is now celebrating his first victory on the Pro Golf Tour. The fact that Bräunig harmonises well with the course of Ain Sokhna was proven by his shared second place last year at the Red Sea Egyptian Classic. Now he did even better.
"I didn't really know the score and just wanted to do my thing. The last few holes with the strong wind were not easy today and I was really nervous on the 18th. I'm over the moon that I was able to finish it off." He will receive a cheque for €5,000 for his maiden title.
"The victory really means a lot to me," Bräunig continued. "I played four years on the Challenge Tour, then a slipped disc set me back. Some things happened that didn't go so well for me. I'm 30 years old now and I knew that things had to start going in the right direction again. With the win right at the start, the tension that had built up for a long time is released."
A chip-in on the 17th hole provided a decisive margin. Bräunig missed the green of the par 5 after two aggressive shots with the driver and the long iron, but holed his chip out of the Bermuda rough for a big bird on the card.
