DP World Tour - Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Field Rating - 184.61862

Ryan Fox secured a memorable victory in front of his family at St Andrew's, firing a closing 68 on the Old Course to win the 2022 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship by a single shot.

ox began the day four shots behind but needed just seven holes of Sunday's fourth round to take the outright lead before a combination of magnificent approach play and brilliance on the greens helped the 35-year-old extend his advantage to three strokes with three to play.

He suffered a late scare at the 17th but managed to limit the damage to just one dropped shot before safely parring the last to claim his second DP World Tour title of the 2022 campaign and third in all.

Fox finished the tournament on 15 under par after carding seven birdies and three bogeys, one shot clear of Callum Shinkwin and Alex Noren.

Fox, who alongside Warne had finished second at this event last year in the team contest, said: "It means a lot. To be honest the only person I can really think of at the moment is Warne.

"He meant a lot to me and this event and was a great mate. It's a terrible shame he's not here.

"I'm going to enjoy celebrating this one with the family."

When asked whether he felt Warne's presence out on the course, Fox added: "Yeah, there was definitely some luck out there.

"Obviously I was pretty nervy the last three holes. I didn't hit very good shots, to be honest, down the 16th, 17th and 18th. He was definitely helping out."

PGA Tour - Sanderson Farms Championship

Field Rating - 207.41582

Mackenzie Hughes cards 3-under 69 to win in the playoff at Sanderson Farms. Hughes wasn’t selected for the International Team, but he watched regardless and supported the squad, which included two Canadians in Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith – both fellow Kent State alums.

Hughes arrived at this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship with perhaps just a bit extra fuel. He channelled that edge into his first PGA TOUR title in nearly six years.

With a two-putt par from the fringe on the 72nd hole at the Country Club at Jackson, approximately 100 feet out, Hughes forced a playoff with Sepp Straka at 17 under. Hughes delivered the winning moment on the second extra hole, draining an 8-foot birdie after Straka had narrowly missed a 20-footer from the fringe.

Hughes has been laser-focused on speed training in recent months; after statistical analysis, he determined gaining distance off the tee could elevate him from an above-average TOUR pro into the game’s elite.

Extra distance helped throughout the week in Mississippi, but it was his tried-and-true competitive advantage, the flat stick, that provided the eventual edge.

Asian Tour - Mercuries Taiwan Masters

Field Rating - 12.68447

Chan Shih-chang claimed the US$ 1 million Mercuries Taiwan Masters today, to finally win an Asian Tour event on home soil for the first time, but only after a titanic battle with India’s Rashid Khan.

The Chinese-Taipei star beat Khan on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff at Taiwan Golf and Country Club, incredibly, after coming from three shots behind with five to play before making birdie three times on the par-four 18th.

A brilliant nine-foot birdie putt saw him secure the title after Khan had missed his birdie attempt from 20 feet, while Chan holed a 21-foot putt for birdie on the first extra hole before Khan made his from two feet. Chan sensationally forced the play-off when he holed a nine-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole as Khan agonisingly missed his birdie chance from six feet.

Both players carded four-under-par 68s to finish on 15 under and beat the previous best tournament total – set by Chinese-Taipei’s Tsai Chi-Huang in 2002 – by one shot.

Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman and Sarit Suwannarut from Thailand tied for third, six shots back after both carding 71s.

“Really happy to win my first Asian Tour title at home. I have always wanted to do this. To be honest, it’s really pressurising. My friends, sponsors and family were out there supporting me today,” said the 36-year-old Chan, who won US$200,000 and moved into 10th place on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Japan Golf Tour - Vantelin Tokai Classic

Field Rating - 42.28299

Kawamoto cements his place in winners’ circle again with Ventelin Tokyo Classic victory. Riki Kawamoto calmly rolled in a clutch putt for birdie from 13 feet at the final hole to claim the Vantelin Tokai Classic on Sunday for his second JGTO title in five weeks as Adam Bland of Australia emerged as the top international finisher in tied-ninth. Kawamoto rallied with a final round of two-under-par 69 at the Miyoshi Country Club to finish at 13-under 271 and deny overnight leader Yuto Katsuragawa his second title of the season by just one shot.

Kawamoto, the Sansan KBC Augusta champion in late August, capitalised on Katsuragawa's meltdown on the front nine, erasing the latter's four-shot advantage and turning it into a two-horse race.

Kawamoto mixed two birdies and a bogey to turn in 34, while Katsuragawa dropped four shots in a three-hole stretch starting from number six with a bogey-bogey-double bogey streak undoing a birdie on the second.

Their battle continued to be closely contested to the 18th hole where Kawamoto had the last laugh after surviving a roller-coaster back-nine where he made an eagle and two birdies but also conceded three bogeys.

Katsuragawa, who marked his less eventful inward nine with a birdie and a bogey, failed to force a tie-breaker after he missed out on a birdie attempt from a nearly identical distance as Kawamoto.

Katsuragawa closed with a 74 to settle for outright second at 12-under 272, three shots ahead of Kazuki Higa (275) and Yuta Ikeda (69).

Sunshine Tour - Vodacom Origins of Golf

Field Rating - 9.12889

Korb wins Vodacom Origins in St Francis. Golf can be a terribly cruel game at times and while leader Ockie Strydom was busy racking up a quadruple-bogey eight at the par-four 11th hole, Ruan Korb was putting the finishing touches to his brilliant round of 63 by sinking yet another birdie putt on the final hole to win the Vodacom Origins of Golf St Francis Links tournament on Saturday.

Korb’s third successive birdie, to go with two-in-a-row on the 12th and 13thholes, saw him shoot an astonishing nine-under-par in the final round, leaving him on 13-under-par for the tournament.

Strydom had been on 15-under before the awful shock of his eight on the 11th, and thereafter he could only par his way through to the close, settling for a level-par 72 after being four-under at the turn. That left the 37-year-old in second place on 11-under, two behind Korb.

The 28-year-old Korb admitted that it was just one of those idyllic days when every putt he looked at, he seemed to sink.

“I really enjoyed myself out there today, the weather was better and my putting was definitely the main reason for my win, every putt just seemed to find the bottom of the cup,” Korb said.

“My putting was certainly much better than when I finished second in the SunBet Challenge Time Square in August.”

“It feels amazing. I’ve had such a terrible season on both the DP World Tour and the Challenge Tour. It’s fantastic and it’s hard to describe with words,” he said.

The final round tee times of the 2022 Castelconturbia Alps Open were delayed 1 hour due to heavy overnight rain that caused unplayable greens. Thanks to the unbelievable work performed by the Golf Club Castelconturbia superintendents the final round began at 9:00 am with the overnight leaders teeing off at 10:20 am.

After he finished his round, his first reactions were, “My game was very good today, it’s been very solid all week. I made a small mistake on 16 with a bogey today but it was a nice finish with 2 good birdies on 17 and 18. So I was very happy with that. He also added: “I’ve enjoyed this course, it’s a thinker’s course, you have to put it in play off the tee and if you don’t then it will be hard to hit good shots into the greens. The greens are tricky but very rewarding at the same time. I’ve really enjoyed playing this course.” With this being his first professional win, he added:  “This is my first professional win so I would like to try and take everything that I’ve learned from this week into my next events.”

Professional Golf Tour of India - Kapil Dev Grant Thornton Invitational presented by DLF

Field Rating - 2.89119

Varun Parikh of Ahmedabad clinched his maiden title with a dominating display on the final day of the Rs. 1 crore Kapil Dev – Grant Thornton Invitational 2022 presented by DLF. Varun’s determined last-round effort of five-under 67 handed him an impressive five-shot victory at the DLF Golf & Country Club as his total read 11-under 277.

The 24-year-old Parikh (73-70-67-67), who won the PGTI’s Qualifying School earlier this year and posted a career-best third-place finish on the PGTI last month, thus continued his hot form this season. Varun’s triumph earned him a prize money cheque worth Rs. 15,00,000 that lifted him from 28th to fourth position in the PGTI Order of Merit.

arun Parikh made a nervous start dropping two bogeys in exchange for a birdie on his first three holes. Thereafter, Parikh’s round took off as his game plan of hitting 3-wood off the tee instead of driver, paid off. The professional, who hails from the Gulmohar Greens Golf Course in Ahmedabad, sank six birdies from the fourth through the 18th which included four long conversions including a mammoth 70-footer on the 11th.

Varun said, “I just followed my game plan from the range itself. I had never been in the lead going into the final round before so I must admit that I was a little nervous and shaky, to begin with. My goal was not to make birdies it was just to make pars, so after the third hole, I didn’t make a bogey. Initially, the pressure got to me a little bit but after that, I held myself together really well.

“I’m just really happy to cross the line, it’s been a long time coming. I’m now looking forward to more wins this season.”
