News for the 6 Eligible Official World Golf Ranking Tournaments
DP World Tour - Hero Dubai Desert Classic
Rory McIlroy won a record-breaking fourth Hero Dubai Desert Classic as he successfully defended his title on a dramatic afternoon at Emirates Golf Club. The Northern Irishman claimed a maiden Rolex Series crown at this event 12 months ago but came into the weekend ten shots back before a stunning third-round 63 put him into the final group on Sunday.
He then turned a two-shot deficit into a four-shot lead with six holes to play before a bogey on the 13th gave the chasing Adrian Meronk and Cameron Young a glimmer of hope. Meronk cut the lead to one as he signed for a 71 but McIlroy held his nerve down the stretch and carded a 70 for a 14 under-par total and a one-shot win.
Young finished with a 74 to sit at 12 under, two shots clear of Canadian Aaron Cockerill, Spaniard Pablo Larrazábal and Chilean Joaquin Niemann. The win takes McIlroy past Ernie Els' hat-trick of Desert Classic victories and hands him his third Rolex Series triumph, having won three of the last five blue riband events.
He also becomes just the second player to successfully defend this title after Stephen Gallacher lifted the Dallah Trophy in 2013 and 2014 and makes it six wins in Dubai with his two victories at the DP World Tour Championship.

PGA Tour - The American Express
Nick Dunlap became the first amateur in 33 years to win on the PGA TOUR, holding on for a one-shot victory over Christiaan Bezuidenhout at The American Express on Sunday.
Dunlap, the 20-year-old University of Alabama sophomore and reigning U.S. Amateur champion, is the first amateur winner since Phil Mickelson at the Northern Telecom Open in 1991.
He’s only the seventh amateur since 1945 — and the third since 1957 — to win a TOUR event. In just his fourth start on TOUR, Dunlap also became the youngest amateur to win on TOUR since 1910.
Dunlap was the only amateur in the 156-person field in the tournament long known as the Bob Hope Desert Classic, but he surged into a three-shot lead with a sizzling 60 in Round 3. He lost that lead Sunday on the front nine on the Stadium Course at PGA WEST, but he played with the resilience of a seasoned veteran down the stretch, capped by his recovery from two errant shots on the 18th to finish with a 6-foot par putt for a 2-under 70. At 29-under 259, he broke the tournament scoring record in a 72-hole event.

Korn Ferry Tour - The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic
With back-to-back bogey-free 5-under 67s in the third and final rounds, Jeremy Paul held off Class of 2022 Korn Ferry Tour graduate Kevin Roy and 2023 NCAA Championship runner-up Ross Steelman Wednesday evening, as the 29-year-old German earned his first career Korn Ferry Tour win at The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay.
Paul entered 2024 with fully exempt status from a No. 56 finish on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Points List, his second consecutive top 75 finish. A victory, though, eluded him, with Paul’s best finish being a T3 at the 2022 Ascendant presented by Blue, roughly a 45-minute drive from his alma mater, University of Colorado.
Now in his fourth season as a Korn Ferry Tour member, his season-opening victory positions Paul for his strongest run at a PGA TOUR card to this point in his career. “I’m super happy I was able to pull it off. It’s never easy playing with a lead,” Paul said. “Kevin (Roy) was making a lot of birdies down the stretch, so he made me work for it. I’m just super thrilled right now with all the work I’ve put in for so many years, and all the people who believe in me along the way that I can give back a little bit with this win.”
Paul shared the 54-hole lead with Roy, but after the first three holes of the final round, the latter found himself three strokes off the lead.

Gira de Golf Professional Mexicana - El Salvador Open Championship
An inspired José de Jesús “Camarón” Rodríguez, categorically won the first edition of the El Salvador Open Championship, the sixth stage of the current season of the Mexican Professional Golf Tour (GGPM).
A final round of 66 hits for a total of 199 strokes, 17 under par, left all the fans who gathered at the magnificent facilities of El Encanto Country Club, a layout designed by famous architect Pete Dye, “delighted” and opened its doors to the competition.
“There is no doubt that it was a great week, the truth is I am very happy with the victory, but above all because of the treatment they gave us, they made us feel at home,” said the champion, who was surprised by a cake of birthday. “I didn't expect it, tomorrow is my birthday and what better way to celebrate it,” added the former member of the PGA Tour.
“As for the competition, things went very well for me, I was very good with the putter and I was able to take the victory even though today I made a mistake on the 16th hole by not calculating the yardage correctly, which is why I recorded a bogey ", commented José de Jesús “Camarón” Rodríguez, who confirmed himself as the top winner of the GGPM with ten titles.

PGA Tour of Australasia - Webex Players Series Murray River in honour of Jarrod Lyle
Admitting that his three-stroke overnight lead made for a restless night’s sleep, Kobori conquered hot and blustery conditions at Cobram Barooga’s Old Course to close with a 3-under par round of 68 and 21-under total.
That was enough to hold off a spirited charge from Singapore’s Shannon Tan (65) in her maiden event as a professional with older sister Momoka Kobori (68) tied for third with Aussie pair Aaron Wilkin (68) and Andrew Martin (69).
Although Kono Matsumoto (8-iron, 134 metres) and Zach Murray (pitching wedge, 151 metres) both made hole-in-ones at the par-3 ninth on Sunday, low scores were the exception to the rule.
Tan and Jake McLeod returned the day’s best with rounds of 6-under 65, Kobori having to adjust his pre-round strategy of patience being his greatest virtue.
“At the start I did think I was going to just try and take advantage of the par 5s and hang on but soon realised that Shannon was moving up pretty quickly,” Kobori conceded. “That strategy changed pretty quickly.”

Big Easy Tour - Altron Big Easy Tour 9
Benoni’s Reece McKain overturned a three-shot deficit on Thursday to claim a one-stroke victory for his maiden Altron Big Easy Tour title after he carded a final-round 70 to total 11-under-par at Waterkloof Golf Club.
It was a dramatic turn of events as both Royal Cape Golf Club’s Samuel Simpson and the man who had led proceedings here for the first 36 holes, Philip Geerts, pushed hard for the win coming down the final stretch. Conner McKenzie was also in the mix in the early stages of the round, even though he would slip down to finish fourth in Pretoria this week.
“I think for me the turning point of my round was the eighth hole,” said McKain, reflecting on the moments he thought were key to his triumph this week. “I hit it in the water there, after making birdie on the seventh; now I’m looking at a double in the face on the tight, right flag – a nicely tucked flag. So, I thought ‘let me just drop it way back – 65 – I like that number, and I just hit a perfect golf shot and the ball spun back into the hole for a nice little hole-out. That was great momentum.”
