Max Homa wins Fortinet in a bizarre finish chipping in from nearly 33 feet for birdie on the closing hole, then watched as Danny Willett three-putted from inside 4 feet on Sunday to give Homa his second straight title at the Fortinet Championship.
Homa high-fived his caddie when his ball hit the flagstick and dropped. His previous shot from a nearby bunker came up short of the green at the par-5 18th hole. Willett, meanwhile, had a one-shot lead at the rain-soaked PGA TOUR season opener and stuffed his third shot to 3 feet, 7 inches.
He rammed his first putt 4 feet, 8 inches by, then missed the comebacker to hand Homa his fifth victory on TOUR.
“Them things happen. Luckily, we’ve been in a good position all week and then unfortunate things happen when you feel like you need them most,” said Willett, who's winless in the United States since he took advantage of Jordan Spieth's collapse to win the 2016 Masters.
Homa closed with a 4-under 66 for a total of 16-under 272 and now heads to Charlotte, North Carolina, as a captain's pick for the Presidents Cup with three wins in the past 12 months. Willett shot 69. Taylor Montgomery was alone in third at 13 under after a closing 64.

DPWT World Tour - DS Automobiles Italian Open
Field Rating - 141.14803
Robert MacIntyre overcame U.S. Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick in a play-off to win the 2022 DS Automobiles Italian Open and underline his match play credentials at the venue that will host next year's Ryder Cup.
The Scotsman made ten birdies and three bogeys in a spectacular 64 on Sunday to force a play-off with third-round leader Fitzpatrick before birdieing the first extra hole to claim his second DP World Tour title. There were several twists and turns on the back nine as the lead changed hands throughout a thrilling afternoon at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.
MacIntyre began the day three shots off the lead but made a blistering start, firing six birdies and no bogeys in a front-nine 29 which featured some remarkable ball-striking.
But his two-shot lead evaporated on the back nine as a run of three bogeys and three birdies in the seven holes immediately after the turn coincided with Fitzpatrick breaking his sequence of ten straight pars by going birdie-eagle from the 11th.
Fitzpatrick confidently birdied the last to force a play-off but could not match MacIntyre's close-range birdie at the only extra hole. MacIntyre was thrilled with his victory and hopes to find himself back in Rome as part of Europe's Ryder Cup side next year.
He said: "It's my main goal - it's my only goal for the next year.
"At the start of the week I didn't think this week was going to be the one - the style of golf course, the way it was playing.
"But we worked on a few things on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I felt so in control of my golf ball this week - my wedges, my long irons and even that hybrid that came into the bag last week.
“This means everything. I was down and out about two or three months ago.
“I didn’t know what I was doing, didn’t know where to go.
"But we spoke to the right people, started working with Simon Shanks and I’ve hit two of the perfect golf shots into the last there. There’s so much hard work gone into this."

Japan Golf Tour - ANA Open Golf Tournament
Field Rating - 40.68677
Otsuki returns to winning ways with ANA Open victory. Four times is certainly the charm for Tomoharu Otsuki as he finally returned to winners’ circle after three years when he captured the ANA Open Golf Tournament in stunning fashion on Sunday.
The 32-year-old Otsuki, a three-time runner-up already this year, sensationally eagled the first extra hole at the par-four 18th to beat Ryo Ishikawa at the Sapporo Golf Club in Hokkaido. Otsuki had earlier overcome a five-shot deficit by firing six birdies for a flawless closing six-under-par 66 to set up a playoff with Ishikawa after both were tied on 19-under 269 in the regulation play.
Ishikawa, who started the day six shots behind penultimate stage leader Yuta Ikeda, powered to the summit with a brilliant 65 that contained two eagles, three birdies and three bogeys.
Ikeda was left cursing his luck after he could only muster a 72 after carding four birdies against as many bogeys, including a costly shot dropped on the final hole which otherwise could earn him a second shot via the playoff.
The ANA Open victory was extra sweet for Otsuki as he had finished second to Zimbabwe's Scott Vincent last year. That was one of the six runner-up results since he last clinched the Kansai Open for his second JGTO victory in May 2019. He also came close to winning at the Golf Nippon Series in 2020 and Vatelin Tokai Classic last year. This year, Otsuki settled for second-best on three occasions at the Golf Partner Pro-Am, BMW Japan Golf Tour Championship Mori Building Cup and Shigeo Nagashima Invitational Sega Sammy Cup.
“This win is very special for me as it has been three years since my last win on the JGTO. Finishing second on three occasions including losing in the playoff at the Golf Partner Pro-Am was a bitter pill to swallow. So, holding this trophy today simply means a lot to me," said Otsuki, who is in his 12th full year as a professional.

Pineau powers to Portugal play-off win. Pierre Pineau sunk a stunning forty-foot eagle putt to defeat countrymen Félix Mory and David Ravetto on the first play-off hole to claim victory at the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos.
The 23-year-old carded a five under par round of 67 to reach 15 under alongside Mory and Ravetto at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort but it was Pineau who claimed his maiden Challenge Tour victory in dramatic fashion.
“I think I had nine, ten events which I was playing on the satellite Tour where I finish second,” he said. “I was just playing to keep my card on the Challenge Tour and now I am doing better than that, so I have no words.”
“My goal this morning was to make the top three. Félix and David are my friends and I know them since I was maybe ten years old so it was special to meet in the play-off.
Pineau was delighted to prove his mental strength during the final round at Royal Óbidos and the Frenchman now has a decision to make on his future plans as the victory sees him climb to 19th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings.
“It is very cool,” he said. “I was supposed to play the French Open on the DP World Tour next and now I must make a decision on what is best to do for my career. I have to speak with my coach, my manager and decide what to do.”

PGA Tour Canada - Fortinet Cup Championship
Field Rating - 21.15235
Wil Bateman finished on top twice Sunday, winning the Fortinet Cup Championship at Deer Ridge Golf Club and in the process the 28-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta, claimed PGA TOUR Canada’s season-long points crown—the Fortinet Cup. Bateman began the week tied for second in the points standings but supplanted No. 1 Jake Knapp in the final tournament of 2022 with an impressive week as he notched his second title of the season.
Bateman finished the 72-hole event with an 8-under 272, shooting a closing 1-under 69 to edge Jeffrey Kang (6-under) for the $40,500 payday and 600 Fortinet Cup points that was enough to put him over the top. Nolan Ray and Thomas Walsh tied for third at 4-under.
“I don’t even know what to say,” Bateman said. “Some things just go your way when you win.”
Case in point: Bateman had a chip shot from behind a tree on the par-4 14th. After an errant drive, he had to punch out, barely getting his ball out and short of the green. Facing a short-sided shot to a difficult pin—this time 20 yards out from what he called the “thickest rough” he had ever seen. Bateman nailed it, the ball dropping in the hole for par.
“I really tried to get it within 50 feet,” he said. “And I blacked out for a minute or two.” OK, not literally, but you get the idea. The 10th-year pro gathered himself from the excitement and followed the improbable par with a birdie on the next hole, seizing control of the tournament. He finished the round with just two birdies and one bogey, but it was more than enough as third-round leader Walsh faltered, shooting a final-round, 7-over 77 to drop into a tie for third.
“This was my first time from leading out in front. I was always chasing from behind and played really well. I don’t think I was uncomfortable today. I just got behind the eight ball early and couldn’t get the putts to drop,” Walsh said.
“I really put in the work, and I’m looking forward to getting back to Scottsdale (Arizona) and really pushing myself and putting in more work,” Bateman finished. “I feel like when I have success on the golf course, it makes me want to work harder, and I really do enjoy it.”
Wil Bateman has three career PGA TOUR-affiliated Tour titles? Besides his two wins on PGA TOUR Canada this season, Bateman also won the 2015 Hyundai-BBVA 89 Chile Open on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica.

Asian Development Tour- OB Golf Invitational presented by Jababeka
Field Rating - 4.53166
Suteepat edges Chang in thrilling finale. Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai held a slender lead in a tense finish to the OB Golf Invitational, presented by Jababeka, edging Malaysia’s Ervin Chang by a single shot to win the US$70,000 Asian Development Tour event.
At the start of the day the leader Suteepat was one in front of Chang, who was four ahead of the remaining pack, meaning the contest was essentially theirs and theirs alone at the Jababeka Golf and Country Club. They matched blows on virtually every hole, both finishing with a score of 66.
Suteepat, who also won the BNI Ciputra Golfpreneur tournament last month, said he was comfortable playing in Indonesia with two victories, and said his consistency in the early rounds was essential to hold off the hard-charging Chang.
“The first two rounds were so good, they were the key to being champion,” he said after the round.
“Playing well with the driver was key, as the setup here was more difficult (compared to BSD).”
Chang had the worst of openings with a bogey on the first hole, dropping him one shot further back. The pair shared pars and then a birdie through the next four holes before the Malaysian was able to claw one back on the sixth hole.
Finally on the par-five 14th hole Chang’s eagle bested Suteepat’s birdie, putting the pair on level footing with four holes to play. The drama did not last for long though as the Thai player snatched back the advantage on the very next hole and was able to maintain his lead to the finish.

Sunshine Tour - Vodacom Origins of Golf

Dingle breaks through with Vodacom Origins win. SOUTHBROOM, KwaZulu-Natal – Wynand Dingle finally has his maiden Sunshine Tour title to his name with a thrilling victory in the Vodacom Origins of Golf Series San Lameer event, as the challenges of Jaco Prinsloo and Sean Bradley died in the closing holes on Saturday.
Dingle shot a scintillating six-under-par 66 to finish on 16-under-par for the tournament, one stroke ahead of Prinsloo, who also fired a 66, but paid the price for only being able to par the last three holes, following a streak of three successive birdies from the 13th.
The 38-year-old Dingle, meanwhile, picked up a crucial birdie on the par-five 17th, having also birdied the par-four 15th.
Earlier Bradley, who began eagle-birdie for a phenomenal start, and then picked up two more shots on the front nine, had taken the lead on 15-under with back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13thholes. But disaster then struck for the 27-year-old from Royal Cape Golf Club as he left the par-three 14th hole with a triple-bogey six. It killed his challenge and he ended with a three-under 69 to finish four strokes back on 12-under-par.
The day belonged to Dingle, however, who, despite several close misses and the frustration that brings, peacefully went about nailing down his first win in his 192nd Sunshine Tour event.
The Silver Lakes Country Club golfer dropped just one shot on the final day, at the par-four seventh, and despite the pressure put on him by both Prinsloo and Bradley when they were running hot, Dingle kept his cool superbly during the closing holes.
Overnight leader Danie van Niekerk had a tough day, capped by a double-bogey seven at the 17th, to finish with a 75 that dropped him into a tie for seventh place on eight-under with Harry Konig (67), Luke Jerling (69), Herman Loubser (69) and Rourke van der Spuy (71).

Nordic Golf League - TRUST Forsikring Championship

August Thor Høst cruises to victory in Køge. There was not much excitement about the victory at today's final round at the TRUST Forsikring Championship in Køge. August Thor Høst started the day with a lead of four strokes, and that's how it ended.
Along the way, there were no swings in the waltz for the Odense native, who ended the day in par and a total of -10 for the tournament. I can almost only disappoint in the situation I was in, so standing with four shots on the first tee is fantastic, but it also made my stomach churn a little, says a happy August Thor Høst with the trophy in hand.
August made a strong start to the tournament with a 63 (-7) on the first day, three-under par in the 2nd round followed by the round of par that secured him the winner.
Four strokes from the top we find Frederik Birkelund, who with the best round of the day (64), took second place ahead of Jeppe Kristian Andersen, Niclas Johansson and Alfred Eriksson, who were five strokes from the top.

Professional Golf Tour of India - Rajasthan Tourism presents Jaipur Open 2022 powered by AU Small Finance Bank
Field Rating - 2.19516
Om Prakash Chouhan of Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, lifted his seventh title after he prevailed with a narrow one-shot margin at the Rajasthan Tourism presents Jaipur Open 2022 powered by AU Small Finance Bank played at the Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur.
The 36-year-old Chouhan (67-66-65-64), lying second and two off the lead after round three, made the most of his excellent chipping and putting form this week as he signed the best card in the last round, a six-under 64, to finish on top at 18-under 262. Om Prakash bagged the winning cheque worth Rs. 6,00,000 and thus moved up from 18th to eighth position in the PGTI Order of Merit.
Om Prakash Chouhan took control early in the day when he picked up five birdies on the first eight holes to move into the sole lead. Om Prakash made his sixth chip-in of the tournament on the seventh hole and set up the other birdies also as a result of good wedge-play.
Chouhan said, “I was feeling the pressure at the start of the day as I was two shots behind but I got into my rhythm with those five birdies on the first eighth holes. After anxious moments with the two three-putts, a good chip-putt for par on the 11th and the birdie on the 12th really helped me relax. The other good par save from a chip-putt came on the 15th which ultimately gave me the confidence to finish well.
“Importantly, my game had suffered because I had stopped using the lob wedge. My brother who caddied for me in Chennai advised me to get back to using the lob wedge as it had always been my strength. So I got back to my lob wedge this week and that contributed to my excellent chipping here in Jaipur.
“The Rambagh Golf Club is a lot like my original home course in Mhow with similar playing conditions. So I always feel at home playing here in Jaipur which added to my self-belief today. I recently got a new sponsor so that too has helped me relax on the golf course while I’m playing an event.”

Michael Stewart’s Class Shines Through After Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters Victory. Michael Stewart became a PGA EuroPro Tour champion for the very first time at Leven Links; the Scotsman moves to 3rd in the Order of Merit.
When quizzed if this was the biggest win of his career, he was quick to admit that was the case – which is why he’s so excited about the future.
“I think so, at least in my professional career. I’ve won on here, the Tartan Tour, a small event in Egypt and I have just been told that I’ve now sealed my Challenge Tour card.
“That’s huge and to be able to play the final two events with your card wrapped up is a really cool feeling.”
Considering he is now sitting on £33,491.91 for the season, it’s safe to say that Stewart will be playing on the Challenge Tour next year – an expectation of the absolute minimum, too. What you may not know is that the Scotsman prevailed from First Stage Q-School for the DP World Tour, co-winning the event that saw a chunk of EuroPro players compete.
He has now progressed to Stage Two and is a matter of rounds away from potentially playing for a DP World Tour card.
