PGA Tour - Travelers Championship

Keegan Bradley built a big enough lead in front of adoring New England fans that he broke the tournament record at the Travelers Championship despite a shaky closing stretch, closing with a 2-under 68 for a three-shot victory on Sunday.

Bradley, who went 62-63-64 in the first three rounds, finished at 23-under 257 at TPC River Highlands, a shot better than Kenny Perry's previous record from 2009.

With fans chanting his name, the 37-year-old walked up to his ball on the 18th green, sank a 2-foot par putt and threw his arms into the air and let out a yell. He finished three shots ahead of Zac Blair, who shot 62, and Brian Harman, who closed with a 64.

“This is for all the kids who grew up in New England and had to endure the winters and watch other people play golf,” said Bradley, who was born in Vermont and also lived in Massachusetts. “I am just so proud to win this tournament."

Bradley had only made one bogey for the week before dropping three shots in his final six holes as the nerves seemed to get to him at the PGA TOUR event he said he most wanted to win. This was his sixth TOUR victory and second this season; he won the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP in Japan in October.

DP World Tour - BMW International Open

Thriston Lawrence claimed his second win of the season as he overhauled Joost Luiten on a dramatic final day in Germany to take the title at the BMW International Open. The South African entered the final day at Golfclub München Eichenried four shots behind his rival but had reeled him in by the turn before back-to-back three-putts on the 12th and 13th left him two behind with five to play.

The 17th then proved critical as Lawrence hit a stunning tee-shot to set up a birdie and Luiten three-putted the par-three to drop out of the lead for the first time all day.

Lawrence parred the last for a 69 to finish at 13 under and with Luiten unable to make a birdie on the par-five, the 26-year-old was left celebrating a fourth DP World Tour title.

Luiten's closing 74 left him a shot ahead of Kiwi Daniel Hillier, Japan's Rikuya Hoshino, local favourite Maximilian Kieffer and Pole Adrian Meronk.

Lawrence was the first winner of the DP World Tour era last season at the Joburg Open and he added another title at the Omega European Masters en route to being crowned the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year.

Another win in his homeland at the Investec South African Open Championship came at the start of this season but that was his last worldwide top ten and Lawrence cut an emotional figure as he reflected on a fourth win in 19 months.

"It means a lot," he said, fighting back tears after becoming just the second South African to win this trophy after the great Ernie Els.

"There's been a lot of hard work. I went to America for six weeks and made one cut - this game is not easy. It was a real boost today and I really gave it my all. I feel sorry for Joost, I know how tough this game is.

"I don't know why I'm so emotional but obviously it just shows that it means the world and to get my fourth victory in Germany is unbelievable.

"I seem to win a lot of events that Ernie has won. It's special, he's obviously the ultimate hero for me. I grew up in that era where he was on top of the world and it's very special to to get my name along alongside him."

Korn Ferry Tour - Compliance Solutions Championship

Jimmy Stanger wins by one with final-round 66 at Compliance Solutions Championship. Jimmy Stanger had no idea he won. The 28-year-old Tampa, Florida native literally couldn’t believe it. Stanger hadn’t looked at a leaderboard Sunday afternoon, and even after a two-putt birdie (which will technically go down as a one-putt) at Jimme Austin Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma’s par-5 18th, the 72nd hole of the inaugural Compliance Solutions Championship, he wasn’t convinced 22-under par was enough for an outright victory.

“It’s something I’ve been doing for the last eight, nine events,” Stanger said of ignoring leaderboards. “My brain is active enough as is out there, so trying to worry about what other people are doing doesn’t help me at all.

Once Stanger walked off the green, close friends and fellow Korn Ferry Tour members Dawson Armstrong and Jared Wolfe showered him with bottles of water. Stanger remained unconvinced. After all, the heat index in Norman, Oklahoma eclipsed 100 degrees around 11 a.m., so Stanger figured his friends were cooling him down for a playoff.

Even when it finally hit Stanger that neither player in the final group could tie him at 22-under par, the fact he won still didn’t feel real. For six years on the Korn Ferry Tour, something had always happened. Whether it was an unlucky break on the final hole, a competitor carding the round of the day to beat him by a stroke, something always kept him from winning.

None of those things came to fruition Sunday. In his 120th start since joining the Korn Ferry Tour in 2018, Stanger became a Korn Ferry Tour winner. “It’s not real. I don’t believe this is happening,” said an emotional Stanger. “I can’t put it into words. I’m so beyond thankful.”

Japan Golf Tour - JAPAN PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP by Satosyokuhin

Veteran Tanihara denies young Nagano's breakthrough with playoff win. Veteran Hideto Tanihara defeated young gun Taiga Nagano in a playoff to win JAPAN PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP by Sato Syokuhin on Sunday.

Tanihara, 44, claimed his 18th JGTO title at the first extra hole with a par at Nishi Nasuno Country Club after he and Nagano ended the regulation play with closing rounds of 66 and 68 respectively for a matching total of 24-under-par 264.

Tanihara had looked on as the 20-year-old Nagano, who was competing in the final pairing, missed his birdie putt from about three feet that could have won him the tournament outright.

When the pair returned to the par-four 18th to decide on the title, Nagano handed Tanihara the upper hand by hitting into the trees.

Tanihara, who won two of his previous four playoff duels, landed his second shot to about 10 feet and had the luxury of two-putting to seal the win.

With the latest victory, Tanihara, who last won at the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup in December last year, has now moved to tied 12th in the list of players with the most TOUR titles.

“Nagano was competing in the playoff for the first time, and I guess my experience gave me the advantage. I kept my composure, and it helped that I was striking the ball and putting well all week. It’s good to see the next generation of golfers coming up and will be exciting to see how they develop into world-class players from here,” said Tanihara.

Nagano was left in disbelief after squandering arguably his best chance yet to secure his JGTO breakthrough since turning professional in November 2021. "It was a waste and mortifying," said a dejected Nagano.

"It's really frustrating that I couldn't make the chance count. But Nagano believes he can only get stronger through this invaluable experience.

PGA Tour Latinoamerica - Jalisco Open GDL

There were no surprises Sunday at Atlas Country Club, as Mexico’s José de Jesús Rodríguez once again proved unstoppable in winning the Jalisco Open Guadalajara for the second consecutive year. The 42-year-old nicknamed “El Camarón” – Shrimp – fired back-to-back bogey-free rounds of 6-under 65 this weekend, securing the low score of the day both Saturday and Sunday. Finishing the week at 20-under 264, Rodríguez won by three shots over Evan Knight of Novato, California, with whom Rodríguez shared the 54-hole lead. Guadalajara’s own Alvaro Ortiz finished solo third, at 14-under.

Rodríguez was such a force this week that he went bogey-free for all 72 holes at the tree-lined course. Such an accomplishment is a first on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica, where he also extended his winning record to six tournament titles, two more wins than anybody else in Tour history.

“I have been making a lot of bogeys this season, so my goal coming into this week was to limit the bogeys on my card. I was very focused on that because I’m a player who makes many birdies, but I’m also a player who makes many bogeys. That was my mindset, and fortunately, I was able to hit it really well off the tee. I’m beyond pleased by such an accomplishment,” said the Korn Ferry Tour veteran from Irapuato.

Asian Tour & KPGA Korean Tour - Kolon The 65th Korea Open Golf Championship

Korean-American Seungsu Han claimed the jewel in the crown of Korean golf today after recording an astonishing wire-to-wire victory in the Kolon Korea Open.

On another hot and sunny day at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club he coolheadedly handled the pressure of front running from the-get-go to close with an even-par 71 for a six under par winning total and a commanding six-shot win over Korea’s Kyungnam Kang, who also carded a 71.

Korean Seungbin Choi claimed third, a shot further back, after shooting a 68 – the best round of the day, and one of only two sub 70 rounds, on the taxing Woo Jeong Hills track.

Han’s magnificent triumph also allowed him to secure one of the two spots on offer in this year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Kang took the other.

Any doubts that Han, who started today with a slim one-shot lead over Jaekyeong Lee from Korea, would succumb to the pressure were put to rest on the front nine when he made the turn with a five-shot lead, on seven under, ahead of Korean Junghwan Lee.

“This is such a great honour,” said Han, the 36 year old who was born in Incheon, Korea, but moved to the United States when he was 13, where he still lives, and first started to play in Asia back in 2010, enjoying most of his success in Japan.

“I was really struggling with foot pains and my throat wasn’t good either, so it was tremendously challenging.  I hardly looks at the scores, maybe a few times. I didn’t look at it on purpose. It was about being mentally strong and my putting was great, I holed some long ones.

“I first started playing in Korea when I was 13, so the Korea Open means a lot to me. I think it is the best tournament in Korea.”

Remarkably he was the only player to finish under par, and for his fine effort he earned a cheque for US$222,222.

He becomes the 12th wire to wire winner of the tournament, and the seventh American to win after Ricky Fowler (2011), Edward Loar (2004), John Daly (2003), Mike Cunning (1994), Scott Hoch (1990 and 1991), and Orville Moody, who won the first three editions of the event starting in 1958.

Han’s six-shot winning margin also matched the record set by Fowler, based on records going back to 1996.

It is the biggest victory of his 14-year professional career, although his other wins were also significant: the Casio World Open in Japan in 2017, and the 2020 LG Signature Players Championship on the Korean PGA Tour.

Challenge Tour - Blot Open de Bretagne

Stuart Manley won his fourth European Challenge Tour title as he clinched the Blot Open de Bretagne title with a birdie at the 72nd hole. The Welshman, whose last win came at the 2021 Euram Bank Open, battled through a testing final day with the lead changing hands several times, but holed a 15-foot birdie at the last to secure victory.

It is the former Walker Cup player’s second win in France following his triumph at the 2018 Hauts de France Golf Open, adding to his first title from Finland in 2013 and was delighted to return to winning ways in Brittany.

“It feels amazing, awesome. I’m lost for words,” he said.

“It’s been a long, tiring week. I was really pleased with my 62 in the second round. That is probably my lowest round on the Challenge Tour and DP World Tour.

“To have the lead at the start of the third round is always quite tough and I didn’t have my game during the last few rounds. I managed to keep the ball in play and stayed close to the guys and managed to hole the odd putt, and then I’ve hit the best shot I’ve hit all year at the last which I’m chuffed about.

Alps Tour Golf & ProGolf Tour- Tenerife Pro Golf Open

Twentysix years old, Netherland’s Lars Keunen who represents The Dutch Golf Club, captured his 2nd Alps Tour title at the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open co-sanctioned event with a three-day score of 22 under-par. He wins by 4 strokes after a bogey-free 9 under-par, 62 final round tying the tournament course record. The record was previously established by Peter Nygren and tied during the 1st round of the tournament by England’s Jack Floydd and in the 2nd round by Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero. During today’s round he made 1 bogey, 6 birdies and 2 eagles, which one occurred on the 18thhole to seal the victory. Keunen has been close to the top of the leaderboards in the majority of the events this season and is happy to have captured his 2nd win.

After he sealed his 2nd win, Keunen commented: “I kept playing good golf and this week I finally was able to capture the win. It’s been a nice week, a nice course, beautiful views and it was easy to enjoy it. I’m definitely very happy to have captured the trophy.” When asked about his plans, he added: “I’m going to keep focusing on the Alps Tour events and then maybe play a few Pro Tour events in August when we don’t have any Alps Tour events. Right now, I’m happy with the way I played. I stayed patient throughout the past few weeks where I was close and couldn’t get it done but now, I’m glad it paid off! It feels good.”
