Erik van Rooyen moves back into the Top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking after he made a 16-foot eagle putt on the par-5 closing hole Sunday to win the World Wide Technology Championship.
World Wide Technology Championship - PGA Tour
Erik van Rooyen made a 16-foot eagle putt on the par-5 closing hole Sunday to win the World Wide Technology Championship. Playing alongside Matt Kuchar at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal at Diamante, van Rooyen played the back nine in 8-under 28 and shot a final-round 9-under 63. He finished at 27-under 261, two strokes ahead of Kuchar and Camilo Villegas.
Van Rooyen won for the second time on the PGA TOUR. The 33-year-old South African's first victory came in the 2021 Barracuda Championship under the modified Stableford scoring system. Kuchar and Villegas each shot 66, with the 45-year-old Kuchar parring the final four holes. Tied for the lead on 18, Kuchar — after van Rooyen and Villegas hit fairway-wood second shots near each other on the green — hit his approach left of the green and chipped 20 feet past the hole.
On Saturday, Kuchar was six strokes ahead at 24 under when he pulled his drive on 15 left into dense bushes and made a quadruple-bogey 8. He then bogeyed the par-3 16th and ended up tied for the lead with Villegas.
Van Rooyen opened play Sunday with a bogey on the par-5 first and made birdies on Nos. 2 and 6. In his back-nine charge, he birdied Nos. 10-12, 14, 16 and 17. Justin Suh was fourth at 24 under after a 65. Andrew Putnam (62) and Ryan Palmer (64) were 22 under.

Mynavi ABC Championship - Japan Golf Tour
Keita Nakajima has regained command of the JGTO Money Rankings after claiming a three-shot victory at the Mynavi ABC Championship in Hyogo on Sunday, securing his third title of the season and the fourth of his career. The 23-year-old entered the final round with a narrow one-shot lead. However, an exceptional start, with five birdies in the first seven holes at ABC Golf Club, allowed him to distance himself from the chasing pack.
Nakajima added four more shots, including an eagle and two birdies, while trading with three bogeys, to finish with a second consecutive six-under-par 66, concluding the tournament with a record-breaking total of 24-under 264. Nakajima surpassed the previous mark of 23-under set by JGTO legend Shingo Katayama in 2003, marking the first of Katayama's four victories in the tournament.
Nakajima secured a three-shot victory over South Africa's Shaun Norris, who also carded a 66, combining seven birdies with a single bogey to finish in second place. With this win, Nakajima became the first player to achieve three victories this season, having previously won the ASO Iizuka Challenge Golf Tournament in June and the Yokohama Minato Championship in August.
"I was in excellent form this week, and I maintained my belief until the end. Perhaps that's what helped me win today," said Nakajima. "I'm extremely honoured to surpass Katayama's record, and I want to work hard to set my own mark when I return next year."

Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A - Challenge Tour
Marco Penge concluded an outstanding week by becoming the second Englishman in as many years to win the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A and the season-long Road to Mallorca Rankings double.
The 25-year-old posted a closing three under par round of 69 to move to ten under par for the week and secure an emphatic six stroke victory over Frenchman Tom Vaillant, who finished in solo second at Club de Golf Alcanada to also break into the Road to Mallorca top 21 and clinch promotion to the DP World Tour.
Penge follows in the footsteps of countryman Nathan Kimsey who triumphed at the season finale 12 months ago to win the Rankings, and he becomes the 13th Challenge Tour Number One to hail from England.
Penge started the day one-shot ahead of Vaillant but a bogey at the par five first hole saw his lead disappear. However, he would bounce back brilliantly. Four birdies in seven holes around the turn and another at the par four 15th saw him move clear at the top of the leaderboard and secure promotion to the DP World Tour.
“To be standing here and saying I’ve won twice on the Challenge Tour and also winning the rankings is hard to imagine,” he said. “It hasn’t quite sunk in yet, but I am absolutely over the moon.
“I believe in myself, and I know what I am capable of. I was in pretty good stead to do well this week and I’m just really pleased that I could bring it all together.

Volvo China Open - Asian Tour,China Tour
Thailand’s Sarit Suwannarut shot a fearless final round eight-under-par 64 to win the Volvo China Open at Hidden Grace Golf Club today by the runaway margin of six-shots, to claim his second title on the Asian Tour, and put him behind a surprisingly poor season.
A fine four-round aggregate of 19-under-par 269, saw him finish comfortably ahead of second placed Taichi Kho from Hong Kong, who sensationally chipped in for an eagle on the 18th for a 65, and Chinese youngster Chen Guxin, the third-round leader in with a 73.
Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra, the leader at the halfway mark, fired a 68 to finish in outright fourth, a further shot back, in the US$1.5 million event being played on the Asian Tour for the first time since 2019, and part of The International Series.
Sarit’s nickname is ‘Safe’ but he was far from that today as he attacked the course from the start with a new found confidence that has been missing for the whole season.
The 25-year-old started the day three back from Chen. However, he quickly caught his Chinese playing partner with three birdies on the trot from the second and overtook him when he made another birdie on seven – a pivotal hole as Chen made a double. It meant Sarit had a three-shot lead.
By the turn he was two in front before a birdie on the 12th gave him a commanding four-shot buffer as Chen bogeyed the hole. He then cruised home for the win unchallenged with birdies on 14, and the final two holes.
After winning the BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE at the end of last year, also an International Series event, Sarit was expected to achieve further success, but he struggled this season, recording just one top-10 in the Mandiri Indonesia Open and missing six cuts in 13 starts before this week.
Yesterday he credited a week’s holiday in Japan with his family before coming here and deciding to go back to using the putter he used when he triumphed in Indonesia for his return to form.
“To be honest I just wanted to come here and have fun,” said Sarit.

Vodacom Origins of Golf Finals - Sunshine Tour
After a challenging few weeks in which he battled with an injury, Neil Schietekat was rewarded with a two-stroke victory in the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final at the Pezula Championship Course on Sunday.

It’s been a tough period for Schietekat as he had to carry an injury while still playing in Asia at a critical part in the season. But it culminated in his second victory this season after winning the FBC Zimbabwe Open in May.
“It was a good week and I really want to thank my caddie for sticking with me through this injury and when the golf has struggled. But this brings us both a smile,” said Schietekat, who also won the magnificent prize of a six-night Christmas cruise courtesy of MSC Cruises South Africa.

Queensland PGA Championship - PGA Tour of Australasia
For a long time on Sunday, the shot that would win the Queensland PGA Championship proved elusive. In the end, it would be the decision of 22-year-old Victorian amateur Phoenix Campbell to take dead aim at the flag on the 72nd hole that would prove the difference.
As overnight leader Andrew Kelly faded from view over the back nine at Nudgee Golf Club in Brisbane, a pack of potential champions jostled for top spot on the leaderboard.
Queenslander Lawry Flynn went out in 5-under 31 to enter the frame, Coffs Harbour product Jack Pountney led by one stroke with four holes to play, rookie Harrison Crowe (66) matched the day’s best score to post 8-under in the clubhouse and reigning Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit winner David Micheluzzi gave himself a 10-foot putt for birdie on the final hole to match Campbell’s 9-under total.
Micheluzzi’s putt took a piece of the left side of the hole as it slipped by, leaving Campbell to create history as the first amateur winner of the Queensland PGA Championship.
