News for the 7 Eligible Official World Golf Ranking Tournaments
PGA Tour - The Honda Classic
Chris Kirk had waited what seemed to be an eternity to win again on the PGA TOUR, having not collected a trophy in nearly eight years. That's 2,836 days. His chief combatant Sunday at The Honda Classic at PGA National was a confident 34-year-old PGA TOUR rookie who almost didn’t get to the TOUR, which was his lifelong dream. Period.
On one of the more demanding golf courses on the schedule, one of the two was destined to leave with a trophy on an action-packed final day, even if the two had to go extra holes, which they did. Kirk and Eric Cole had a nice back-and-forth tussle in the final group, each competitor finishing regulation in 14-under 266 – a new tournament record on the Champion course.
Kirk, 37, is a winner on TOUR for the fifth time now. He is headed back to the Masters (his three boys – Sawyer, Foster and Wilder, are old enough to enjoy it this time – and their dad cannot wait until the Wednesday Par 3 Contest). Kirk promises to savour all those good perks that come with winning. To think, he came close to nearly throwing it all away. Everything. His career. His great life on TOUR. And most regrettably, he said he nearly lost his family, too.
Sunday’s victory carried extra significance because Kirk won after choosing to live a life of sobriety nearly four years ago. He never volunteered to be a poster boy in discussing his road, but he also knows when he does great things, his accomplishments can inspire many who have endured the depths he did.
“I owe everything that I have in my entire life to my sobriety,” Kirk said Sunday evening, the winner’s glass Honda Classic trophy at his side. “I wouldn't be doing this for a living anymore. I probably wouldn't have the family that I have currently anymore. I came really close to losing everything that I cared about.
“For that to have happened and worked out for me, obviously there were some decisions that I made, but mostly the grace of God and a lot of other people that really helped me along the way. It's something that's constantly on my mind, so it's pretty easy for me to see that winning The Honda Classic is kind of a bonus when literally every good thing I have in my life I owe to that (sobriety).”

DP World Tour & Professional Golf Tour of India - Hero Indian Open
Marcel Siem made a memorable return to the DP World Tour winner's circle after more than eight years away as he fought off the challenge of fellow German Yannik Paul to claim a one-shot victory at the 2023 Hero Indian Open. Siem won four titles between 2004 and 2014 but has had to wait until now for the DP World Tour crown number five, although he did win Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge on the European Challenge Tour in 2021.
The 42-year-old, who secured his card for the 2023 season at the Qualifying School in November, went into the final round one shot behind overnight leader Paul but made four birdies over the first 11 holes to move two strokes clear. Siem made a total of five birdies and one bogey in his closing 68 to finish the tournament on 14 under par. Paul was alone in second on 13 under - for his second successive runner-up finish - with Joost Luiten another shot further back after his Sunday 68.
Siem said: "Winning a golf tournament, being back in the winner’s circle now, it means everything to me. It’s just unbelievable.
"It was tough out there with Yannik, he played unbelievably with no room for errors.
"Coming from top 20s straight to a win (is unexpected). My goal this week was a top ten. I never really had the feeling that this was my week. I played with Joost in Thailand, and he finished third there, Yannik came with a top two from last week so I thought I needed to do something special to win this golf tournament. They played great, so well done guys.
"Now I can choose and pick where I want to go again, it makes life a lot easier. I can prepare properly on the golf course, it’s a life-changer. I just can’t believe it. It’s amazing."

Sunshine Tour & Challenge Tour - Nelson Mandela Bay Championship
Dylan Mostert birdied the last to win the Nelson Mandela Bay Championship by a single stroke at Humewood Golf Club on Sunday, and earn his second Sunshine Tour title and his first on the European Challenge Tour. Mostert stood over a three-metre birdie putt on the final green that he needed to separate himself from fellow South African Jaco Prinsloo, whose storming 62 had earned him the clubhouse lead on 15 under par. Mostert’s win also moves him to the best position he has held in the Official World Golf Ranking now 339th in the world.
And Mostert took the words of his sports psychologist to heart as he rolled in the putt for a final round of 67 and victory on 16 under par.
“We spent a lot of time talking before this tournament and the main message was for me to just stay calm. My mental game definitely got me through this week. That’s what won me the golf tournament,” said Mostert after a solid final-round performance in gusting conditions.
“I was so relieved when I holed that birdie putt to win. It was a grind the whole week with the wind. The golf course was difficult for me. But once you taste victory like this you just want more of it. To be a two-time winner is a great achievement for me.”
Mostert will now continue his journey on the Challenge Tour as he chases a new goal of gaining a DP World Tour card.
“Winning is hard, and this is such a relief. The standard of golf on the Sunshine Tour and Challenge Tour is so good. All the golfers out here are hungry and want to win and move to the next level in their careers. I’m definitely going to play Challenge Tour events this year. Casey Jarvis and I will tour together, and the main goal is to get that DP World Tour card, so I’ll put my head down and go for that.”

PGA Tour of Australasia - TPS Hunter Valley, Hosted by Jan Stephenson & Peter O'Malley
Coletta shoots a course record 61 to steal TPS Hunter Valley title in a four-hole playoff. After making the cut on the number, Coletta was eight strokes off the lead when he teed off at 9.17 am, three hours and 17 minutes prior to the final group of Lincoln Tighe and Jack Munro. Three hours and 41 minutes after signing for his nine-under 61, Coletta was headed back to the 18th tee for a playoff against Lincoln Tighe.
The pair both had birdie chances on the first three visits back down 18 before a wayward tee shot that saw his ball finish alongside a tree left of the fairway put Tighe on the back foot. Coletta safely found the left side of the green with his approach and after punching out to the rough, Tighe had a snaking putt of some 20 feet to make par.
That burned the edge of the hole to give Coletta two putts for victory, his first since the 2016 Queensland Open.
Playing on invites for the majority of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia season, Coletta now has a winner’s category for the next two years and direct entry into next week’s New Zealand Open at Millbrook Resort. His nine-under 61 bettered Blake Windred’s previous course record of eight-under 64 and gave him an anxious wait all afternoon.
“I’m going, to be honest, you’re just waiting for that blowout,” Coletta said trying to keep a hot round going.
“You’re just holding on, especially on this back nine. Nine’s a tough shot today with that wind off the right and then you just hold on through 10, 11, 12, even 13 today into the wind. Fourteen for that matter and 15! You’re just holding on for those five or six holes and you get a couple of nice ones to finish off.
“I played super solid all day. I impressed myself, honestly.”

He was the 1st round leader and only a few shots back after yesterday’s round. Today he was able to capture the win with one of the low rounds of the day. Jack is 26 years old and turned professional in 2020. This is his 3rd season on the Alps Tour and currently represents Haywards Heath Golf Club. After his victory, he was very happy, “I would like to thank my parents and my grandparents, they’ve been in this with me from the start. I’m very pleased with how the season has started. I have been working hard back home with my coaches so to see it pay off early on in the year is exciting.
He went on to add that he found “today a little breezier than the first few days with some tucked pins so all parts of my game were in a good spot. I gave myself plenty of chances and holed a few mid-range putts.” Jack looks forward to the year ahead with hopefully more wins!
