PGA Tour - Mexico Open at VidantaWorld

Brian Campbell secured his first PGA TOUR win in dramatic fashion at the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld. A fortuitous bounce off the trees during a playoff against Aldrich Potgieter proved to be the turning point. Campbell's errant tee shot on the second extra hole ricocheted back into play, setting up a birdie that sealed the victory.

Campbell, who closed with a 1-under 70, acknowledged the lucky break. "You’ve got to get those breaks sometimes," he said. Despite the poor tee shot, he capitalized on the opportunity, hitting a wedge close and sinking the winning putt. The victory comes after a decade of professional golf and marks Campbell's first win on either the Korn Ferry or PGA TOUR.

For Potgieter, who shot a 71, the playoff was a frustrating affair. Despite consistently finding the fairway on the 18th in the playoff, he couldn't convert his opportunities, ultimately missing a crucial birdie putt that would have extended the playoff. Potgieter, a rising star who won The Amateur Championship in 2022, expressed disappointment but remained optimistic.

Campbell's win comes with significant perks, including invitations to the Masters, THE PLAYERS Championship, and the PGA Championship, along with five of the remaining $20 million Signature Events. The victory marks a major milestone in Campbell's career, which has included struggles and setbacks, making this triumph all the more rewarding

PGA Tour of Australasia - Webex Players Series Sydney hosted by Peter O'Malley

Nick Voke held on to win the Webex Players Series Sydney at Castle Hill Country Club, but not without a late scare from fellow New Zealander Jake McLeod.  Voke, who led from Friday, saw his comfortable lead dwindle in the final round as McLeod mounted a fierce charge.

Voke's final round of 3-under 69 was enough to secure a one-stroke victory over McLeod (66), who finished alongside Will Florimo (66), Travis Smyth (69), and Tyler Wood (69) at 18-under.  Despite Voke's early dominance, including a birdie at the first for the fourth consecutive day, McLeod chipped away at the lead, narrowing the gap to just one stroke with two holes remaining.

A clutch par save on the 17th allowed Voke to maintain his slim advantage heading into the final hole.  Both players had birdie opportunities on the par-5 18th, but McLeod's putt to force a playoff lipped out, leaving Voke to tap in for the win.

Voke admitted that McLeod's tenacity made him nervous, joking that he'd be having nightmares about him.  McLeod, who was proud of his late surge, acknowledged that he thought he was out of contention before his dramatic comeback.

This victory marks Voke's first win since 2018, a drought he described as challenging. He emphasized the hard work and dedication that went into achieving this win.  The win comes just ahead of the New Zealand Open, leaving Voke to consider the logistics of transporting his trophy back home.

In other Webex Players Series Sydney events, Nicholas Heanes won the Junior Players Series, and Lachlan Wood took the All Abilities Players Series title.
