Brian Harman claimed his maiden Major title at the 151st Open Championship after producing a front-running masterclass to storm to a six-shot victory, moving into the Top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time.

Major Championship - The 151st OPEN
Brian Harman claimed his maiden Major title in style at the 151st Open Championship after producing a front-running masterclass to storm to a six-shot victory. The American left-hander went into the final round at a very wet Royal Liverpool Golf Club with a five-shot lead and suffered his only real scare when Masters Champion Jon Rahm closed to within three after just five holes on Sunday afternoon.
Harman rallied, though, firing back-to-back birdies at the sixth and seventh before bouncing back from his third bogey of the day on the 13th with two successive gains on the 14th and 15th to put one hand on the Claret Jug. Closing his round with three successive pars to sign for a final-round 70 and finish the tournament on 13 under par.
Harman's only other 54-hole lead at a Major had come at the 2017 U.S. Open Championship at Erin Hills, where he began the final day with a narrow one-stroke cushion but finished in a tie for second. He was not to be denied this time, though, as a world-class chasing pack failed to truly threaten his commanding lead.
World Number Three Rahm, Jason Day, Tom Kim and Sepp Straka finished in a tie for second on seven under, with four-time Major Champion Rory McIlroy and first-round co-leader Emiliano Grillo another shot back. Brian now moves into the Top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time in his career.
Harman said: "It’s pretty surreal. It really hasn't sunk in yet. I’m not going to let (the Claret Jug) out of my sight for the time being. To win what I consider the greatest prize in golf is as good as it gets. I've got to thank my wife and family back home. I sure miss them and can’t wait to get back to them tomorrow”.

PGA Tour & DP World Tour - Barracuda Championship
Akshay Bhatia beat fellow American Patrick Rodgers on the first play-off hole to win his first PGA TOUR and DP World Tour title at the Barracuda Championship. Akshay Bhatia has always been ahead of the curve. He played his first PGA TOUR event at age 17, the same year he became the youngest American ever selected to play in the prestigious Walker Cup (2019).
He finished in the top 10 of a PGA TOUR event at age 18 and won his first Korn Ferry Tour event at 19, making him the third-youngest player ever to win on that circuit (behind only PGA TOUR winners Sungjae Im and Jason Day).
Now, at just 21 years old, Akshay Bhatia is a PGA TOUR winner. Bhatia won the Barracuda Championship on Sunday in a playoff over Patrick Rodgers. With the victory, Bhatia immediately became a PGA TOUR member and thus eligible for the FedExCup Playoffs should he earn the requisite number of points.
"It's obviously been a really tough road," said Bhatia, who has played on the PGA TOUR as a special temporary member since a runner-up finish at the Puerto Rico Open earlier this year.
"I've had a lot of up, a lot of down. A lot of good, a lot of bad. But I knew I was going to get here. It was just matter of time.
"For it to happen this year with special temporary membership and now to get to play all these events and to get it done today was, I can't even describe it."

Korn Ferry Tour - Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper
On the final hole at Highland Springs Country Club on a sweaty summer Sunday in the Midwest, Pierceson Coody rolled in one final great putt in a week full of them winning his second Korn Ferry Tour win of season, third overall.
Coody, who captured the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper on Sunday by two shots, didn’t think that this was going to be the week for him to break out of a mid-season slump. But such is golf. You take the opportunities when they come, and when things go in your favor, it’s all good, baby.
“I was kind of in a little bit of a funk and it's crazy that one week in golf can change everything and change your mindset,” Coody said. “I mean, it's so cliché, but it's hard to put into words because it still doesn't feel real.
“It's probably not going to feel real for a few days.”
Pierceson Coody moves to his best rank held in the Official World Golf Ranking nearly inside the top 100 now ranked 109th previously 158th.

Challenge Tour - Big Green Egg German Challenge powered by VcG
Francesco Laporta returned to the winner’s circle for a third time on the European Challenge Tour with a hard-fought victory at the Big Green Egg German Challenge powered by VcG. The Italian, who won the Hainan Open and the Challenge Tour Grand Final in 2019, battled through testing conditions at Wittelsbacher Golfclub to secure a one stroke victory.
His level par final round of 72 saw him sign for a seven under par total, one clear of English duo Gary Boyd and Ashley Chesters, German Dominic Foos and Jiří Zuska from the Czech Republic.
The 32-year-old becomes the fifth Italian winner on the Road to Mallorca this season, climbing to 19th in the Rankings and taking a step closer to achieving the goal he set himself at the beginning of the year.
“I didn’t expect to win this week after the last couple of events, but we did it,” he said. “It’s been four years without a win, and I was struggling the last couple of years.
“Even at the beginning of this year I wasn’t playing my best golf, but the last few weeks I’ve changed a couple of things with my swing and it’s worked out.
“I want to get back to the DP World Tour as soon as possible. That’s what me and my coach have discussed and this result is definitely going to help me. My main goal is to make sure I get back there.

PGA Tour Canada - Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper
It took 72 holes of regulation play and four playoff holes for Canada’s Stuart Macdonald to emerge victorious at the Commissionaires Ottawa Open on Sunday. At Eagle Creek Golf Club, Macdonald made birdie on the fourth extra hole—No. 18, his fourth consecutive birdie on the hole—to oust Devon Bling and take home the title and the 500 Fortinet Cup points that go with it. Luke Schniederjans was also in the playoff but bowed out on the first extra hole.
The victory, Macdonald’s first on PGA TOUR Canada, moved him to No. 6 in the Fortinet Cup standings after beginning the week in 124th place. Immediately after securing the win, he called his wife, Carly, who, as Macdonald put it, “is very pregnant.”
Dad will have quite a tale to tell his child, who has an arrival date of mid-August.
“To get my first PGA TOUR-sanctioned win, in Canada, is huge. I’m really happy about it,” the Vancouver native said. “I’m obviously thrilled to be standing here as the champion. It’s a long-time coming. I felt like I’ve put myself in this spot a few times this year and haven’t gotten it done. It feels amazing to finally get it done.”

Sunshine Tour - SunBet Challenge - Wild Coast
CJ du Plessis was able to neutralise the considerable threat posed by Jean Hugo and Neil Schietekat, as well as the pressure of his own expectations, as an extraordinary finish saw the 32-year-old claim his first Sunshine Tour title with a one-stroke victory in the SunBet Challenge Wild Coast at the Wild Coast Sun Country Club on Saturday.
Heading to the 16th green one stroke behind Hugo, Du Plessis notched a sensational eagle as he drained what he later described as “a 100-foot putt right across the whole green that somehow found the bottom of the cup”.
Hugo birdied the par-five so the duo were all-square when they reached the final hole. Du Plessis’s drive was too far left, however, and found a fairway bunker. But the Silver Lakes Country Club golfer hit a tremendous seven-iron to 12 feet of the hole and made the putt for birdie, his six-under 64 lifting him to 11-under-par for the tournament. When Hugo could only make par, Du Plessis had his first win in his 193rd tournament and following five runner-up finishes.
His remarkable feat left him and many others feeling that this victory was maybe just meant to be.
“I’m ecstatic,” Du Plessis said. “I knew it was going to be a tough day and Jean and Neil would fight all the way, they’re not guys to just give it to you. But it was a phenomenal finish.

ProGolf Tour - The Cuber Open
Christian Bräunig secured his second title of the season with an impressive performance at The Cuber Open 2023. The former Challenge Tour player, who had lost his Tour card due to injury problems, takes a big step towards advancing again with his victory in Donaueschingen.
Despite several hours of thunderstorm suspensions - Bräunig had to play 22 holes on Wednesday - the German champion of 2016 was particularly convincing in the first two rounds. Outstanding scores of 64 and 62 strokes on the Old Course of the Öschberghof gave him a clear lead of seven strokes over the next competitors.
It was a constellation that was not easy to master mentally. The special pressure situation kept Bräunig busy. While birdies and eagles adorned the scorecards in the first two rounds, not much came together on the windy final day. Almost without exception, the birdie putts rolled past the hole and small mistakes brought several competitors within three strokes.
"The big lead felt uncomfortable," Bräunig explained during the winner's interview from one of title sponsor The Cuber's handy modular trailers that served as the tournament office. "I felt like I could only lose. With the wind, it was also a different golf course. But maybe I played a little too defensively. But I also just didn't hit the ball that well. It was an exhausting day, but I'm glad I made it to the finish."
His final round of 72 strokes had nothing to do with the brilliance of the first two days, but was enough to secure victory - mission accomplished for the winner of the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic in March. This makes Bräunig the first two-time winner of the 2023 season. "I won the tournament because of the sensational first two rounds, which gave me a lot of confidence. My putting in particular was sensational, but that was also due to the exceptional quality of the greens."
