PGA Tour – THE PLAYERS Championship

Rallying from three shots behind with bold play to close with a 4-under 68 Justin Thomas won THE PLAYERS Championship moving to World No.2.

Thomas becomes only the fourth player to win a major, THE PLAYERS Championship, the FedExCup and a World Golf Championships, and it couldn't have come at a better time.

He called it as good as he has ever played tee-to-green, and he needed it to outlast Lee Westwood, a hard-luck runner-up for the second straight week. Westwood birdied the final hole for a 72 to finish one shot behind.

Thomas went birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie around the turn, and put away Westwood for good with a pair of lag putts from 50 feet -- one for birdie on the par-5 16th to take the lead, another on the island-green 17th for a par.

Thomas still had one more shot before he was in the clear. He took on the water framing the left side of the 18th fairway, the ball moving right-to-left and bouncing straight off the crown of the first cut, safely in the fairway.

His approach landed on the fringe -- the first green he missed all day -- leaving a simple two-putt for par and the 14th victory of his PGA TOUR career.

"I fought so hard today," Thomas said. "It's probably one of the best rounds of my life tee-to-green. I've seen some crazy stuff happen on TV in the past, and I'm glad to be on this side of it."

European Tour - Commercial Bank Qatar Masters

Antoine Rozner holed an incredible 60-foot putt on the last to win his second European Tour title at the 2021 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters jumping to a career best of World No. 63.

The Frenchman had carded a stunning 68 in high winds on day three and entered the final 18 holes at Education City Golf Club three shots off the lead.

In calmer conditions in round four, he hit the top of the leaderboard as he turned in 33, but Guido Migliozzi joined him at the summit as he signed for an impressive bogey free 65.

After leaving himself a long way from the pin on the last, it looked like Rozner needed two putts for a play-off but he drained an incredible double breaker over the ridge to sign for a 67 and finish at eight under.

India's Gaganjeet Bhullar and South African Darren Fichardt finished alongside Migliozzi a shot off the lead, two clear of Welshman Jamie Donaldson and England's Richard McEvoy.

Rozner's victory is his second in his last six events and comes just three months after his maiden win at the Golf in Dubai Championship presented by DP World.

Sunshine Tour - Players Championship hosted at Dainfern Golf Estate

Jaco Prinsloo won on the third hole of a three-way playoff at the Sunshine Tours Players Championship, Dainfern Golf Estate. Prinsloo jumps 424 spots to a career best of World No.305.On a day not for the faint-hearted as the final groups attacked the leaderboard with red numbers, Jaco Prinsloo, Jake Roos and Daniel van Tonder all finished regulation play tied for the lead on 25 under.

Playing the par-five 18th again, both Prinsloo and Van Tonder eagled the hole as Roos fell out. That took the two of them back to 18. Prinsloo showed absolute nerves of steel as his second found the greenside bunker, and he then pitched out to within three feet to make birdie. Van Tonder matched him with a birdie of his own, taking them back to 18 again.

Van Tonder pulled his drive, but then produced an incredible shot from the left rough to just short of the green. He chipped to about six feet, but missed his birdie putt. That left Prinsloo to hole his two-foot putt for birdie and his second Sunshine Tour victory.

“The playoff was almost the easier part. Just getting there was more nerve-wracking,” said a relieved Prinsloo.

“Jake, Daniel and myself are all good friends, and luckily today I came out on top. To get this title is very special. I have to thank the Sunshine Tour for making this tournament possible. I love this golf course and the whole atmosphere here.”

It was hardly surprising that four incredible days of low-scoring golf should end in a playoff for this Sunshine Tour event.
