PGA Tour - RBC Heritage

Stewart Cink closed out his four-shot victory at Harbour Town with a stress-free par on the lighthouse-framed 18th hole moving To World No.44. This is the 3rd time Stewart Cink has entered the OWGR Top-50. Firstly in 1998, before dropping out during 2002. Secondly in 2004 before dropping out in 2011, reaching a high of No.5 in 2008. Thirdly in 2021 after his victory this week.Wife Lisa, their other son, Connor, and his fiancee, Jess Baker, were in the gallery cheering Cink's second win this season.

“To have a posse like that waiting at the end to celebrate with,” Cink said, “it's just an experience you don't get to have in your life that often.”

He shot a steady, stress-free 70 to cap off a dominant, record-breaking week at an age — 47 — when many players are looking ahead to the PGA TOUR Champions.

Instead, it was Cink finishing four better than Emiliano Grillo and Harold Varner III. Grillo shot a 68 while Varner, who had the highest finish of his career, fired a 66.

The 30-year-old Varner took found plenty of encouragement in the man who beat him.

“He's old and he's kicking everyone's (butt),” Varner said. “Yeah, it inspires me. It inspires me to know that I can play golf for a long time.”

The Cinks had their arms around each other to celebrate.

“I don't even know if I have the words,” Stewart Cink said.

He won for the second time this season — only he and Bryson DeChambeau have done that. He broke an 11-year winless drought in the season's first tournament, the Safeway Open back in September.

That one seemed to come out of nowhere. But Cink backed it up with four more top-20 finishes, including a tie for 12th last week at the Masters Tournament.

Takumi Kanaya won a third Japan Golf Tour title at the weather shortened Token Homate Cup.

Earning 16 Ranking points Kanaya moves up the Ranking 42 spots, breaking into the Top 100 for the first time at a career best of World No. 76.

European Tour – Austrian Golf Open

John Catlin won his third European Tour title in eight months as he overcame Maximilian Kieffer in a play-off following a dramatic final day battle at the 2021 Austrian Golf Open moving back into the Top 100 at World No. 79.

The American started the day two shots off the lead and was four back after Kieffer picked up six shots in seven holes to take control at Diamond Country Club.

But as Kieffer's momentum stalled in a two horse race, Catlin took his birdie tally for the day to seven as he carded a bogey free 65 to set the target at 14 under.

In the group behind, the German found sand off the 18th tee but showed nerves of steel to get up and down for par and the contest went to extra holes.

Both men had good chances as the first four trips back up the last were halved but Kieffer found the water three times at the fifth time of asking and Catlin took the crown with a bogey.

German Martin Kaymer was three shots out of the play-off at 11 under, three clear of England's Marcus Armitage, Dutchman Wil Besseling and South African Garrick Higgo.

Korn Ferry Tour - MGM Resorts Championship at Paiute

Peter Uihlein ran away with his second career Korn Ferry Tour victory on Sunday with a final-round 3-under 69 to win the MGM Resorts Championship at Paiute moving to World No.240. Uihlein outpaced David Lipsky and Jamie Lovemark by four strokes at Paiute Golf Resort’s Sun Mountain course.

“Very difficult, the wind was relentless,” said Uihlein. “But I got off to a dream start…To get off to that good of a start on the front nine, and I would say the first six are probably the more challenging holes out here, so getting off to a good start was big for me. I couldn’t cruise because it was still really difficult, but I was able to be more conservative.”

Entering the day with a one-stroke lead, Uihlein carded a 4-under 32 in windy conditions on the front nine to distance himself from the competition. The Oklahoma State alum held a lead of four to six strokes throughout the back nine.

“I had a par drip in on No. 14,” said Uihlein of the moment he started to believe it was his day. “It just really dripped in the front, it had no business going in. I think when I got to 16 tee, I felt like those last three holes weren’t going to be as difficult. I guess the 17th was still difficult, but 16 and 18 weren’t overly demanding so I felt like I was in good position.”

The 31-year-old narrowly missed winning a month ago on the Korn Ferry Tour at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS. He was tied for the lead with two to go before bogeying the 17th hole on Sunday to fall one stroke shy of champion Roberto Diaz. He has split time between the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA TOUR during the 2020-21 season.

"It's mega cool to stand here with the winning check, I had a great match with Morten Ørum Madsen out there, where he gets to make an eagle on hole 15 and birde on hole 18, where I luckily end up with a bird on 17 and 18, to just win with one. So it is absolutely fantastic to be here in the end, ”says a happy Marcus Helligkilde.
