Japan Golf Tour - Top Cup Tokai Classic

Challenge Tour – Kazakhstan Open
Sam Walker won his second European Challenge Tour title of the season as he claimed a one-stroke victory in torrential rain at the Kazakhstan Open at Zhailjau Golf Resort.
Walker carded a three under par round of 69 to finish one shot clear of overnight leader Jordan Smith, securing his second title in six events after winning the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge in August.
The Birmingham man finished with an 18 under par total after rounds of 69-67-65-69. Just 15 golfers finished their final rounds under par as bad weather made for tricky playing conditions.
He started the final round with a bogey on the first hole, just his second across the 55 holes he had previously played, but immediately recovered with a birdie on the second hole and a further gain on the fourth hole.
Two birdies on the eighth and ninth holes were followed by a bogey on the tenth hole, and his birdie on the par five 15th hole saw him draw level with Smith with just four holes to play.
Smith, who finished level par on the day, bogeyed the 16th hole and Walker parred his final four holes to secure the €72,000 first prize.
“It’s amazing,” an emotional Walker said. “To go through what I’ve been through over the last three months, working hard and trying to get my career back on the mend, to win in Kazakhstan just tops it all off. The biggest one of the year, and I’ve won it.
Asian and Korean Golf Tour - Shinhan Donghae Open
India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar returned to the winner’s circle for the first time since 2013 when he powered his way to victory with a final round four-under-par 67 at the Shinhan Donghae Open on Sunday.
Asian Tour rookie Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe could not have asked for a more memorable week after he closed with a 69 to finish tied for second with Korea’s Taewoo Kim at the KRW 1.2 billion (approximately US$1 million) event.
Australia’s Scott Hend increased his lead atop the Asian Tour Order of Merit by signing off with a 68 take a share of fourth place with Sweden’s Malcolm Kokocinski.
With the relentless rain pelting down on the Bear’s Best Cheongna Golf Club, Bhullar kept his composure by reaching the turn in 34 after three birdies and a bogey.
Four birdies in his next five holes after the turn saw Bhullar reach the top of the leaderboard at 17-under, with a commanding four-shot advantage.
His charge towards victory was however halted when he bogeyed 16 and 17.
Bhullar then parred the closing 18 for four-day total of 15-under-par 269 but had to endure a nervous wait as Vincent and Kim, who were playing in the last group, still had the opportunity to force a play-off.
Asian Tour - Mercuries Taiwan Masters
Lu Wei-chih of Chinese Taipei won the Mercuries Taiwan Masters on Sunday to revive his career after going through a brain surgery to remove a non-malignant tumour in mid-2012.
Lu battled against the odds to shoot a two-under-par 70 and win the tournament for the third time in his career with a five-under-par 283 total at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club, which is also his home course.
Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines fired a 70 to finish in second place, one shot back from the champion, while Thailand’s Danthai Boonma and Phachara Khongwatmai shared third place on 285s at the US$800,000 Asian Tour event.
Panuphol Pittayarat of Thailand, who led in the last three rounds, slipped to a share of sixth place following a disappointing 76.
The story of the day belonged to the 37-year-old Lu, who showed true perseverance to bounce back from his operation and revive his golf career.
“It means a lot to me to win this tournament. After the surgery, I thought I couldn’t play golf anymore so to be a winner again is amazing,” said the emotional Lu, who won US$160,000.
Sunshine Tour - Vodacom Origins of Golf –Simola
A three-birdie burst in the middle of the final nine holes of the R700,000 Vodacom Origins of Golf tournament at Simola Golf and Country Estate on Saturday saw Justin Harding pull away for his fifth victory as a professional.
He picked up strokes on the 13th, 14th and 15th on his way to a final-round two-under-par 70, enough for a one-stroke edge over Ockie Strydom who had fired a brilliant 11-under-par 61 to set the clubhouse target at 13-under-par 203, nearly an hour ahead of Harding.
“Ockie posted an unbelievable score, something that I didn’t think was out there. His round today was a kick in the butt, and that helped me stay focused,” said Harding.
“I didn’t start that well,” he said of his opening nine of two-over-par 38, which included four bogeys. “But I managed to get a couple of good putts to go in. The first one came on 13, but 14 was pretty much the crucial one. It was about a 20-footer, downhill left to right and it managed to just creep into the hole.
“It was not so much the birdie putts that helped me today. The good little tester from six feet I made on 16 after I hit a good tee shot into the fairway bunker and then played two very shaky little shots – I managed to make that,” he added.

MENA Golf Tour – Ascorp Golf Citizen Abu Dhabi Open
Craig Hinton survived a compelling late fight-back from his fellow Englishman Scott Campbell to seal a tense wire-to-wire victory at the Ascorp Golf Citizen Abu Dhabi Open at Yas Links on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Englishman closed with a 69 to reach 13-under for the tournament, edging Campbell by one shot for his second win on the MENA Golf Tour.
England’s Lee Corfield, playing in the final group alongside Hinton, occupied solo third after carding a final round 70 as Zane Scotland and his playing partner Joe Heraty shared fourth on nine under, one ahead of Spain’s Borja Cabello.
“It was a pretty enjoyable week. This golf course is just fantastic. Stuck to my game plan and didn’t miss much. And if I did it was in the right areas and that gave me good scoring opportunities,” said Hinton after receiving the winner’s trophy from Giuliano Gasparini, senior manager of hospitality and leisure for Aldar Properties, and Mohamed Juma Buamaim, chairman of the MENA Golf Tour.
“I think making a birdie on the 17th was crucial as it gave me a one-shot cushion standing on the 18th tee. During the whole week, I may have missed a few putts, but holed the crucial ones which was the key,” said the Thame native.
Campbell, starting the day five off the pace, made things interesting, shooting a sparkling 65 to set the clubhouse target at 12 under par.
“Played really well, but it wasn’t good enough to get over the line,” said Campbell, who made eight birdies and one bogey in his final round. “But I am very happy to finish the way I did.”
