PGA Tour - Sony Open in Hawaii

Jimmy Walker, an astronomy fanatic and now a two-time winner on the PGA TOUR, gazed through a glass window across the room to a television that showed his most recent photo of Orion's Sword.

Walker toiled on the PGA TOUR for seven years and 187 tournaments without winning. Now it appears the stars have aligned for him.

That certainly was the case Sunday in the Sony Open in Hawaii.

In a wild final round, where four players were in the mix with an hour to go, Walker followed a clutch par save with three straight birdies to pull away from the pack. He closed with a 7-under 63 for a one-shot victory over Chris Kirk.

That's two wins in six starts for Walker.

European Tour – Volvo Golf Champions

For the fourth year running Louis Oosthuizen began the calendar year with victory on home soil as he retained the Volvo Golf Champions in Durban.

South African Oosthuizen was one shot behind compatriot Branden Grace with two holes to play, but birdied them both to card a closing 68 and win by one shot on 12 under par.

That means all seven European Tour events staged at Durban Country Club have now been won by South Africans, while eight of the last 11 tournaments in South Africa have been won by home players.

Oosthuizen has also now started each of the last four calendar years with a victory thanks to a perfect finish after falling foul of the 16th hole for the second day running.

The 31 year old followed his triple-bogey seven on Saturday with a bogey five on Sunday to fall one shot behind Grace, who had birdied two of his last three holes to shoot a 68 and set the clubhouse target.

Asian Development Tour - Linc Group Jakarta Invitational

Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert savoured a memorable week at the inaugural Linc Group Jakarta Invitational when he shot a one-under-par 70 to claim a maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) victory on Saturday.

Pavit, one of the most promising stars to emerge from Thailand, compiled a four-day total of nine-under-par 275 for a one-shot victory over Japan’s Mitsuhiko Hashizume and joint overnight leader, George Gandranata of Indonesia. They closed with rounds of 68 and 71 respectively at the Jababeka Golf and Country Club.
