Ian Poulter denied Luke Donald the World Number One spot as he beat him in the final of the Volvo World Match Play Championship in Spain.Donald was trying for an unprecedented match play double after taking the WGC-Accenture title in Arizona in February, but his fellow Englishman triumphed 2 and 1 at Finca Cortesin. The win takes Poulter to World Number 14 a jump of 8 positions.

David Toms made a final-day comeback to claim his first PGA Tour title in five years as he enjoyed a one-shot victory over Charlie Wi at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. The American started the day a shot behind Wi but his three-under 67 saw him leapfrog the South Korean who shot a one-under 69. It was Toms' first tournament victory since the Sony Open in Hawaii in 2006 and his 13th on the tour and followed his play-off defeat by KJ Choi at the Players' Championship last week. Toms climbs a further 18 places to World Number 28.

Michael Hoey claimed his second European Tour title with a two shot victory at the Madeira Islands Open. The 32 year old, whose previous win also came on Portuguese soil two years ago, fired a closing 71 to finish ten under par for the week at the stunning Seve Ballesteros-designed Porto Santo Golfe. The win takes Hoey to World Number 220, an improvement of 154 places.

This week's other winners were Masanori Kobayashi at the Totoumi Hamamatsu Open on the Japan Tour, Kurt Barnes at the SK Telecom Open on the OneAsia Tour and Garth Mulroy at the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation on the Nationwide Tour.
