Week 51 - POULTER AND WESTWOOD WIN IN AUSTRALIA AND THAILAND TO FINISH 2011 IN 16TH AND 2ND RESPECTIVELY IN THE OFFICIAL WORLD GOLF RANKING

Lee Westwood after a first round of 60 led from start to finish to win the Thailand Golf Championship, the Flagship event on the Asian Tour, by seven shots from Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel. The victory moves Lee to the World No.2 position and Charl Schwartzel finishes the year in the World Top-10 ranked No.9. Ian Poulter won the JBWere Australian Masters title with a final round 67 to win by three shots from fast-finishing Marcus Fraser who came through the field with a final round 64. Poulter moves up twelve places to No.16 in the final 2011 Ranking and Marcus Fraser moves into the Top-100 at No.97. In the final event of the year Francisco Cerda won the 52 Albierto Sport Frances Copa Nissan on the Tour de las Americas after a play-off with Federico Damus. There are no Official World Golf Ranking events next week so the issue this week represents the final Ranking of the year with the Top-50 receiving invitations to the 2012 Masters Tournament. The first Ranking in 2012 will be issued on January 9 following the Hyundai Tournament of Champions on the PGA TOUR (Monday finish), the co-sanctioned Africa Open on the Sunshine and European Tours and the Victorian Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia.
