Paul Casey secured his maiden US PGA Tour victory at the Shell Houston Open at Redstone Golf Club with a play-off win over JB Holmes. In difficult windy conditions Holmes had posted a final round of 69 to take the club house lead which Casey matched more than two hours later. Michael Hoey secured his maiden win on The European Tour as he defeated Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño in a play-off to capture the Estoril Open de Portugal. Hoey holed a six foot par putt on the third extra hole to defeat the Spaniard. Earlier, the Northern Irish golfer produced one of the rounds of his life to surge to the top of the leaderboard with a classy five under par 66 at Oitavos Dunes - having started the day five shots off the lead down in 19th place. Hoey climbs to World Number 148, a jumps of 125 places.
Michael Sim ran away from the pack and posted a six-shot victory at the inaugural Stonebrae Classic at TPC San Francisco Bay. Sim birdied five of six holes to finish the front nine cruising to a final-round 64 and a six-stroke victory, his second career title on the Nationwide Tour. Sim jumps to World Number 153, up 74 spots.
