At its meeting at the 2006 Open Golf Championship the Governing Board for the Official World Golf Ranking approved the following adjustments to the Official World Golf Ranking which became effective from January 1 2007:
1) The minimum points level for the Sunshine Tour in Southern Africa are increased from 12 to 14 points for first place in line with the Asian and Nationwide Tours.
2) The graduated decline of a player's Ranking points over the rolling two-year measurement period are changed so that following an initial 13-week period of full weighting the player's points are reduced on a weekly basis in equal decrements for the remaining 91 weeks of the two year Ranking period. Previously, a player's points were devalued by 1/8th weighting every 13th week over the two year Ranking period. This change is designed to place additional emphasis on current performance whilst at the same time causing a smoother transition of a player's weekly loss of ranking points.
