Brent Geiberger held off Michael Allen and Chris Smith to win the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, the event his father Al won 28 years earlier making the Geibergers the first father-son duo to win the same PGA TOUR event. Brent takes a leap of 131 places to reach number 88 in the World.
Toru Taniguchi won the Japan Open Golf Championship on the Japan Golf Tour. He was the only player to finish under par over the Hakusan Course at Katayamazu Golf Club and has moved up the Official World Golf Ranking to 83rd place. Toru is now the third highest ranked Japanese player.
Sergio Garcia delighted the home crowd with victory at the Mallorca Classic at Pula Golf Club. The win, Garcia’s third of the year, takes him back in to World’s top ten at number ten.
This week’s other winners were Charley Hoffman, who won a play-off from Jeff Gove and Craig Lile at the Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic on the Nationwide Tour, and Matthew King who was victorious at the Donnington Grove Computacenter English Challenge Open on the European Challenge Tour.
