Stewart Cink won the WGC - NEC Invitational at Firestone Country Club by four strokes over Rory Sabbatini and Tiger Woods, who kept his No. 1 ranking for the 333rd week. The win takes Cink up 13 places in the Official World Golf Ranking 11th place.

Vaughn Taylor birdied his first playoff hole and held off Stephen Allan, Scott McCarron and Hunter Mahan to win the Reno-Tahoe Open on the PGA Tour. Taylor moves to World Number 130, a leap of 121 places.

Canadian David Hearn held off David McKenzie and win the Alberta Classic on the Nationwide Tour and is now World Number 272.

Two events were played on the European Challenge Tour this week where Englishman Philip Archer won the Rolex Trophy and Ireland’s Stephen Browne captured the Norwegian Challenge Open.

China played host to the Asian Tour where Thailand’sThammanoon Srirot was victorious at the Tianjin TEDA Open Presented by Rolls-Royce at the Tianjin Warner International GC and climbs to World Number 320.

The first five automatic qualifiers for the 2004 European Ryder Cup Team were decided with the completion of the Ryder Cup World Points List, based upon the number of Official World Golf Ranking Points won during the one year qualifying period. The top five finishers in the list were Padraig Harrington, Sergio Garcia, Darren Clarke, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Lee Westwood.
