Els’ World Ranking victories this year include the Mercedes Championships (54 first place points), The Sony Open in Hawaii (58), The Heineken Classic (30), The Johnnie Walker Classic (44), The Barclays Scottish Open (50) and this week’s Omega European Masters (30). Runner-up Michael Campbell continues his good form since returning to the European Tour and is now World No.44.

On the PGA TOUR this week, Bob Tway became the eighth golfer over the age of 40 to win a 2003 PGA Tour event as he beat Brad Faxon at the third extra play-off hole to win the Bell Canadian Open at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ontario. Bob improves 24 positions on this week’s Official World Golf Ranking and is now World No.45 and the 24th highest ranked golfer from the United States of America.
In the week’s other tournaments, Todd Hamilton won the PGA Matchplay Championship on the Japan Golf Tour and he improves to World No.70. In the BA CA Golf Open presented by Telekom Austria on the European Challenge Tour, Robert Coles secured his maiden victory and improves 218 positions to World No.455. New World No.229 Zach Johnson won the Envirocare Utah Classic on the US Nationwide Tour.
