On the US PGA Tour this week, Vijay Singh moves to No.2 on the Official World Golf Ranking as he won the FUNAI Classic at the Walt Disney World Resort in Buena Vista, Florida. Singh earns 58 World Ranking points for the win and, for the first time ever in his 21-year professional career, he advances one spot to replace Ernie Els at World No.2.

On the US PGA Tour this week, Vijay Singh moves to No.2 on the Official World Golf Ranking as he won the FUNAI Classic at the Walt Disney World Resort in Buena Vista, Florida. Singh earns 58 World Ranking points for the win and, for the first time ever in his 21-year professional career, he advances one spot to replace Ernie Els at World No.2. It is the highest World Ranking position of the Fijian’s career and he now leads World No.3 Ernie Els by 0.65 points and trails World No.1 Tiger Woods by 7.14 points. It is the first time since January 12th this year that Els has not been ranked at World No.2.

In the penultimate event of the 2003 European Tour International Schedule, Ricardo Gonzalez from Argentina produced the biggest comeback of the year so far as he came from six strokes behind to win the Telefonica Open de Madrid at Club de Campo Madrid. As a result, Ricardo returns to the World Top-100 as he improves 54 spots to move to No. 81 in the world. Runner-up Paul Casey moves into the World Top-20 for the first time in his career and remains the top English golfer in the world.

In this weeks other tournaments, Naomichi Joe Ozaki won the Bridgestone Open on the Japan Golf Tour and Joe improves to World No.185. Craig Bowden won the Miccosukee Championship on the US Nationwide Tour and he moves to No.536 in the world. In the inaugural Sanya Open on the Asian PGA Tour, Australian Marcus Both shot a final-round 67 to win the Yalong Bay Golf Club event and Marcus improves to No.551 on the World Ranking. In the European Tour Challenge Tour Grand Final, Jose-Manuel Carriles won the €25,600 first prize and Jose is the new World No.311.
