On the US PGA Tour this week, Stuart Appleby continued his brilliant month as he beat Scott McCarron at the first extra play-off hole to win the Las Vegas Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada. The victory is Appleby’s first PGA Tour win since the 1999 Shell Houston Open and as a result he improves his World Ranking position by 6 spots to his highest ever position – World No.14.

On the US PGA Tour this week, Stuart Appleby continued his brilliant month as he beat Scott McCarron at the first extra play-off hole to win the Las Vegas Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada. The victory is Appleby’s first PGA Tour win since the 1999 Shell Houston Open and as a result he improves his World Ranking position by 6 spots to his highest ever position – World No.14. Stuart also overtakes both Robert Allenby and Adam Scott to become the highest-ranked Australian player on the Official World Golf Ranking. Runner-up Scott McCarron improves 22 positions this week to just outside the World Top-50 at No.57.

After a month off, the Asian PGA Tour returned to action this week as two-time major champion John Daly won the Kolon Korean Open at Woo Jung Hills Country Club. John improves 29 positions to World No.237. It is Daly’s first victory since the 2001 BMW International Open in Germany.

On the European Tour this week, Maarten Lafeber delighted the home crowds as he became the first home winner of the Dutch Open for 56 years with a one-stroke victory over Denmark’s Soren Hansen and Mathias Gronberg of Sweden. Maarten improves his World Ranking position by 65 spots to just outside the World Top-100 at No.108 and is now the 28th highest-ranked European in the world and remains the top-ranked Dutch player in the world.

In this weeks other tournaments, Nozomi Kawahara is the new World No. 273 as he won the Japan Golf Tour Georgia Tokai Classic at the Miyoshi Country Club. Lucas Glover moves to No. 449 by winning the Gila River Classic at Wild Horse Pass Resort on the US Nationwide Tour. On the European Challenge Tour, Welshman Craig Williams won the Ryder Cup Wales Challenge at the DeVere Northop Country Park Golf Club and Craig improves to World No. 572=.
