In the first German event of the 2003 European Tour International Schedule, Padraig Harrington beat Thomas Bjorn in a play-off to win the Deutsche Bank – SAP Open TPC of Europe at the Gut Kaden Golf Club in Hamburg, Germany. As a result, Padraig returns to the World No.8 position and a 25-place improvement for runner-up Thomas Bjorn brings him back into the World Top-50 at No. 39. Third-placed Retief Goosen solidifies his Top-10 position as he moves up one position to World No.9.
