Steen Tinning collected the second European Tour victory of his career as he produced a final-round 67 to win the Telefonica Open de Madrid at the Club de Campo course in central Spain. Steen moves up 110 positions on the World Ranking this week and now shares the 132nd spot with Taichi Teshima of Japan. Tinning has improved 128 places in total this year and is now the 4th highest ranked Dane on the World Ranking after Thomas Bjorn (No.36), Anders Hansen (No.68) and Soren Hansen (No.90).

On the US PGA TOUR this week, Jonathan Byrd continued the recent trend, as he became the 17th first-time winner on TOUR this year as he won the Buick Challenge at the Callaway Gardens Resort in Georgia. Byrd’s final round 63 was enough to repel the challenges of runner-up David Toms, who moves up one place to No.6 in this weeks ranking, and third-placed Phil Mickelson. The 24-year old rookie has improved 331 positions so far this year.

On the Australasian Tour, Andre Stolz enjoyed a 94-position improvement on the world ranking this week as he won the ANZ Victorian Open. Andre moves from No.266 to No.172 this week.

On the Japan Golf Tour, Scott Laycock won the Bridgestone Open at the Sodegaura Golf Club in Chiba and Scott moves to No.106 in the world. Runner-up Toru Taniguchi improves 3 positions and is now world No.44.

In the week’s other tournaments, Patrick Moore won the Buy.Com TOUR Championship on the Senator Course at Capitol Hill, Alabama. Patrick improves 55 positions to No. 255. On the European Challenge Tour Peter Lawrie improves 140 positions to World No. 401 as he won the Challenge Tour Grand Final at the Golf du Medoc club in France.
