Week 16 - JIM FURYK BACK TO WORLD NUMBER FIVE AFTER VICTORY AT THE VERIZON HERITAGE
4/19/10 9:40 AM

Jim Furyk won the Verizon Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina at the first extra hole in a play-off with his final round playing partner, England's Brain Davis. The pair tied on 13-under-par 271 and Furyk prevailed with a par 4 after Davis found the Calibogue Sound with his second shot and then incurred a two-stroke penalty with his recovery after touching a loose impediment with his club on the backswing. Furyk moves up a spot to World Number Five and Davis breaks into the World Top 100 in 98th position.

At the European Tour and OneAsia Tour co-sanctioned Volvo China Open the US PGA Champion Y.E. Yang secured a two stroke victory over the two Welshmen Rhys Davies and Stephen Dodd. He will head to his native Korea for the Ballentine's Championship this week as the World Number 20, a jump of 6 positions.

This week's other winners were Koumei Oda at the Token Homemate Cup on the Japan Tour, Kevin Chappell at the Fresh Express Classic at TPC Stonebrae on the Nationwide Tour and Andy Matthews at the Corona Mazatlan Mexican PGA Championship on the Canadian Tour.
