Week 3 - TREVOR IMMELMAN MOVES UP TO WORLD No.37 AS HE WINS THE SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS OPEN
1/19/04 9:38 AM

In the first of two South African tournaments on the 2004 European Tour International Schedule, Trevor Immelman produced a sublime final-round 67 to successfully defend the South African Open at the Erinvale Golf Club in Cape Town. Immelman improves 19 positions to No.37 on this week’s Official World Golf Ranking and remains the third highest-ranked South-African in the world after Ernie Els (3) and Retief Goosen (7). Immelman follows in the footsteps of Gary Player who also successfully defended the South African Open in 1977. Steve Webster and Alistair Forsyth were joint runners-up and they improve to No. 218 and No.86 respectively.
