Major Championship – U.S. Open

Bryson DeChambeau produced a sensational final round display to claim his first Major title at the U.S. Open Championship moving back to World No.5, a position he last held at the beginning of 2019.

The 27-year-old American was the only player in the field to break par on Sunday at Winged Foot Golf Club and did it in style with a three under par 67.

That gave DeChambeau a six under total, making him the only player to finish in red numbers for the week, with Matthew Wolff finishing six shots adrift in second.

Starting the day two behind Wolff, the 21-year-old seeking to become the youngest U.S. Open winner for over a century, DeChambeau wasted little time reeling in his playing partner.

DeChambeau is just the third player after Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods to win an NCAA individual title, the U.S. Amateur title and a U.S. Open.

Asked at the trophy presentation what it meant to be in such exalted company, DeChambeau said: “It’s just an honour. I don’t know what else to say.

“It’s been a lot of hard work. Mr Nicklaus has been always awesome to me. He gave me a sponsor’s invite. Tiger has always been great to me.

“I can’t say thank you enough to them for helping push me along to be a better person and a better golfer as well. To be in the company of those names is special. I’ll forever appreciate that.”

Challenge and European Tour – Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos

Garrick Higgo secured a life-changing first European Tour victory at the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos thanks to a stunning bogey-free seven under par final round of 65, moving to World No.122 from 189.

Higgo, who's victory comes in just his seventh Tour start, admitted that the feeling had not yet sunk in following his win.

“It feels awesome,” he said. “I thought it was going to be a little bit easier over the last three holes but he [Pep Angles] made it a bit tough. That birdie on the last was really, really nice.

“I just really enjoyed it and I just made sure I had fun out there.

"It’s awesome. It feels pretty surreal to be honest. I’m sure it’s going to kick in tonight but my family and everyone is excited, I’m excited, it’s an awesome feeling."

Last year’s runner-up Sarit Suwanarut closed with a 6-under 66 to finish tied for second on 15-under with Tanapat Pichaikool (68) and eight-time European tour winner Thongchai Jaidee (69).

“I am over the moon now. Finally, I can make it after waiting for the title since turning pro about 10 years ago,” said the newly crowned Ratchapol, who turned pro in 2009.

“My first win is so special because this tournament is the biggest and oldest event on the tour.”

Alps Tour - Toscana Alps Open

Former World No.25 Matteo Manassero sank a birdie putt on the 18th to win the Toscana Alps Open at the Golf Club Toscana moving from World No.1805 to 920.

“It’s very nice going back to winning a tournament is always a great pleasure and a great feeling, anywhere this happens“, said Manassero just after finishing his round. “I’m really happy and I’m really proud about the way I’ve played today, to be honest. After a long time and a lot of work, it’s a big achievement being able to run the right mindset everyday since the start until the end and I’m happy that the game supported, the putt supported, everything was on point; so yeah, I guess I’ve started the week thinking whether the work was good or not, and I guess it’s in good place”.
