European Tour - Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Tyrrell Hatton became the first man to successfully defend the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he held off the charge of Ross Fisher, who broke the Old Course record on a historic day at St Andrews.

Hatton entered the day with a five-shot lead and extended his bogey-free run to 55 holes as he got to 24 under and finished three shots ahead of fellow Englishman Fisher.

The 2010 Ryder Cup player made 11 birdies in a stunning 61 that is the lowest of over 13,300 professional rounds at the Old Course as both men entered the history books on an unforgettable afternoon.

Fisher's 11 under par effort was the second time an Open Championship venue saw its course record broken during the week after Tommy Fleetwood fired a 63 at Carnoustie on Friday.

It is Hatton who will be taking home the trophy, though, after rounds of 68-65-65-66 gave him his second European Tour title and he became just the fourth man after Curtis Strange, Trevor Immelman and Thongchai Jaidee to successfully defend a trophy for his first two wins.

He also becomes just the second player to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship twice after Padraig Harrington and has completed a remarkable return to form after making just two of nine cuts between the Masters Tournament and US PGA Championship.

PGA Tour – Safeway Open

Brenden Steele won the PGA TOUR's season-opening Safeway Open for the second straight year, closing with a 3-under 69 in windy conditions Sunday for a two-stroke victory over Tony Finau.

"I'm getting pretty spoiled winning the first event of the year twice," said Steele, the 34-year-old from the Southern California mountain town of Idyllwild. "This place is so great to me. I feel so comfortable here and it's been a great run."

Phil Mickelson and Chesson Hadley finished three shots behind.

Steele finished at 14-under 273 for his third PGA TOUR title. He's 33 under in his past eight rounds at the event. Steele also won the 2011 Valero Texas Open.

Two strokes behind surprising leader Tyler Duncan entering the day at Silverado Resort and Spa, Steele birdied the par-5 16th and 18th holes — holing a 3-footer on 18.

"The greens were firming up in the afternoon," Steele said. "I knew the weather was going to be windy and it seems Sunday is always the hardest day on the PGA TOUR for whatever reason. That was about as hard as it can play out there."

Finau, whose lone PGA TOUR victory came in the 2016 Puerto Rico Open, moved into a tie for the lead with Steele at 14 under with a birdie on the par-4 13th. But he double-bogeyed the par-4 14th. After pars on 16 and 17, Finau had a 40-foot eagle putt on the 18th and settled for birdie and a 69.

"I was happy the way I hung in there; I didn't hit a lot of quality shots off the tee coming in like I needed to," Finau said. "But I put myself in a situation for a playoff or a win with that eagle putt. It was still pretty cool."

Japan Golf Tour - Honma TourWorld Cup

Yusaku Miyazato won a 6^th Japan Golf Tour title at the Honma TourWorld Cup.

Asian Tour - Yeangder Tournament Players Championship

Ajeetesh Sandhu of India fired a two-under-par 70 to claim a dream victory at the US$500,000 Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC) on Sunday.

The 28-year-old returned with a winning total of 12-under-par 276 to defeat Johannes Veerman (71) of the United States by one-shot at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club.

Local star Lu Wei-chih posted a 72 to miss out on the chance to win the Yeangder TPC for the second time in his career. Lu fired four birdies against as many bogeys to claim his best result since winning the 2016 Mercuries Taiwan Masters.

Sandhu kept a cool head to romp to his first Asian Tour victory. The win was a huge lift in his career as he missed out on a Tour card at Qualifying School earlier this year.

He made full use of this country exemption this week as he edged a battling Veerman to the title after trading three birdies against one bogey.

Veerman, also searching for a first Asian Tour victory, almost forced a play-off when his eagle chip on the 18th hole hit the pin. He settled for second, his best result on the Asian Tour so far.

Lu, who underwent a brain surgery in 2012, was disappointed to miss out on a grandstand finish when he bogeyed the par-three 17th hole due to a poor club selection.

MENA Golf Tour - Jordan's AYLA Golf Championship

Jamie Elson won the inaugural Jordan's Ayla Golf Championship in a tense playoff on Saturday, holing a four-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole to beat fellow Englishman Luke Joy in an exciting finish to the first professional golf event in the country.

Elson, the current MENA Tour Order of Merit leader, eagled the final hole in regulation en route to a closing 68 to set the clubhouse target of a seven-under-par 212 that Joy matched with a 72, birdeying the last after producing a stunning hole-in-one on the 12th.

Both birdied the first extra hole to extend the proceedings, but a wayward drive by Joy opened the door for Elson to secure his breakthrough win on the MENA Tour he first played last year.

Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre fired a sizzling nine-under 64 to set a new course record, eclipsing a 67 shot by Sweden’s Henric Sturehed in the second round to move into a four-way for third on six-under after an action-packed day.

England’s Joe Heraty, who carded a bogey-free 68, Italy’s Rocco Sanjust (67) and Sturehed (73) joined MacIntyre in the group, four clear of the English duo Zane Scotland and Lee Corfield and Sweden’s Fredrik From.

“Quite surprised to win, to be honest. Struggled a bit on the front nine, but made a nice birdie on the ninth to get to level-par for the day. Thereafter, I played solid golf and holed putts when I needed to, to get into the playoff,” said Elson after receiving the winner’s trophy from HE Nasser Sultan Shraideh, Chief Commissioner, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority.

“Playoff could have gone either way, but I hit some great shots and made putts to get the job done, finally,” said the 36-year-old Englishman, eagled the last in regulation, hitting his eight-iron approach from 185 yards to with two feet.

Scotland’s MacIntyre, tied for 15th at the start, produced the round of the tournament to make his professional debut an event to remember.

Asian Development Tour - PGM MNRB Championship

Overnight leader Blake Snyder was rewarded for his patience when he closed with a four-under-par 68 to win by two shots for his second Asian Development Tour (ADT) title at the PGM MNRB Championship on Saturday.

The 25-year-old American, who held a one-shot advantage heading into the final round, fired five birdies against one bogey for a winning total of 15-under-par 273 at the Damai Golf and Country Club.

John Catlin, also of the United States, came in runner-up after signing for a 67 while Singapore’s Johnson Poh returned with a 69 to take third place on 277 at the RM200,000 (approx. US$44,600) ADT event.

Thailand’s Nirun Sae-Ueng battled to a 72 to settle a further shot back in fourth while countryman Jakraphan Premsirigorn carded a 71 to sit in fifth place on 280. ADT Order of Merit leader Masaru Takahashi of Japan slipped to sixth place on 282 following a 74.

Snyder, who claimed his ADT breakthrough two years ago, sank two birdies against one bogey to turn in 35 before adding three more birdies on the 11th, 13th and 15th holes to seal the deal.

Nordic Golf League - Race to Himmerland

Ludwig Nordeklint won Race to Himmerland with Nicolai Tinning and Kasper Sørensen tieing for second.

Ludwig Nordeklint won in great style the Race to Himmerland 2017 after a total score of 13 under par, and under difficult conditions it was enough to beat Nicolai Tinning and Kasper Sørensen by one shot.
