PGA Tour- Valspar Championship

Adam Hadwin only wanted a chance to win on the final hole Sunday at the Valspar Championship. He could have done without the self-inflicted drama.

Hadwin lost a two-shot lead with one swing on the 16th hole when his tee shot sailed into the water and led to double bogey. The 29-year-old Canadian kept his wits and closed with two pars, the final one good enough for a one-shot victory over Patrick Cantlay.

The victory sends him to Augusta National for the first time, even if it means altering a honeymoon trip to Tahiti.

Hadwin is getting married March 24.

"I just wanted a chance to win coming up the last, and I had that chance," Hadwin said.

Hadwin closed with an even-par 71, and it was hard work to the end. Tied for the lead, and with Cantlay having come up short into a bunker, Hadwin went just over the back of the green against the collar of the fringe. He used the leading edge of a sand wedge to send it down the slope to 2 feet from the cup.

Asian Tour / European Tour- Hero Indian Open

Indian star S.S.P. Chawrasia romped to a commanding seven-shot victory to successfully defend his title at the US$1.75 million Hero Indian Open on Sunday.

The 38-year-old Chawrasia, who triumphed by two strokes last season, ground out a final round of one-under-par 71 to seal his sixth Asian Tour victory and fourth European Tour title at the demanding DLF Golf and Country Club’s Gary Player course with a winning score of 10-under-par 278.

Victory was worth US$291,660 and pushed him up to second place on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit behind American David Lipsky.

ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia- New Zealand Open

Michael Hendry has won the ISPS HANDA New Zealand Open in front of a jubilant home crowd.

It has been 14 years since a Kiwi hoisted the Brodie Breeze trophy but Hendry has it in his hands today.

With rounds of 65, 65, 67 and 69, Hendry finished regulation play tied with fellow Kiwi Ben Campbell and Australian Brad Kennedy on 19-under the card.

It took just one trip down the 18th in extra time for Hendry to emerge victorious. Playing first, Hendry hit his tee shot safelt to the centre of the green while Campbell and Kennedy both found the water.

When the pair was unable to get up and down for par, Hendry took two putts to win his first New Zealand Open title.

Pro Golf Tour- Open Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia

With rounds of 67, 64 and 68 strokes German amateur Max Schmitt secured himself the trophy of the Open Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia. The 18 year old from Andernach near Koblenz played only his third Pro Golf Tour tournament in his career when he triumphed with a total 14 under par in Morocco. His brilliant performance on the par 71 golf course in Mohammedia finally gave him a five shot lead over Frenchman Oliver Rozner and Pedro Figueiredo from Portugal who shared second place with 9 under par.

PGA Tour Latinoamerica- Molino Canuelas Championship

An even-par 72 on a windy final day of clear skies, proved good enough for Brandon Matthews of Dupont, Pennsylvania to claim his first professional win at the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica’s Molino Cañuelas Championship.

Only five months into his career as a professional, the Temple University graduate finished the week at 13-under 273 to win by one and rise to No. 1 on the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica Order of Merit. Matthews was making only his second career start on the Latin American Tour.

The 54-hole leader by three shots, Matthews never lost grasp of the lead on Sunday and became the youngest U.S. winner on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica at the age of 22 years, 7 months, 13 days.
