At its recent meeting, the Governing Board of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) approved the inclusion of the China Tour and PGA TOUR Series China into the OWGR System.
The China Tour is the national men’s golf tour operated under the auspices of the China Golf Association, providing a pathway to the European Tour, where the leading player from the final Order of Merit is awarded European Tour exemption status for the following season. Additionally, the leading five players from the final China Tour Order of Merit are given exemptions into the Asian Tour’s final stage of Qualifying School.
The China Tour will be introduced to the OWGR System at minimum points levels of six first place points for 72-hole tournaments and four first place points for 54-hole tournaments, effective OWGR Week One - week ending January 7th, 2018.
The PGA Tour Series China is a partnership between the PGA Tour and the China Golf Association whereby the PGA TOUR Series China will provide players with a pathway to the Web.com Tour, with the top-five money-winners at the season’s end earning 2019 Web.com Tour membership. In addition, there will be at least 15 additional players who will have access to the latter stages of the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament.
The PGA TOUR Series China will be introduced to the OWGR System at minimum points levels of six first place points for 72-hole tournaments and four first place points for 54-hole tournaments, effective OWGR Week One - week ending January 7th, 2018.
The Governing Board also announced that the Sunshine Tour’s South African Open is to acquire OWGR Flagship Tournament status in place of the Alfred Dunhill Championship, effective immediately. The winner will receive a minimum of 32 first place points.
