WEEK 8 Phil Mickelson 25 consecutive years inside the World Top 50

The Governing Board of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) has approved an increase in minimum first place points to the Korean Golf Tour.

The Korean Golf Tour will receive an increase from 6 to 9 minimum first place points to reflect the growth, competitiveness and strength of its players and of the Tour itself.

The increase will be effective from OWGR Week 17 – the week ending April 24th 2016 –  for the Korean Golf Tour’s opening tournament of the 2016 season, The 12th Dongbu Insurance Promi Open at the Dayou Montvert Country Club.

Following a recent announcement that the top 5 players on the final 2016 MENA Golf Tour Order of Merit will earn full playing privileges on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa, as well as the MENA Golf Tour receiving 10 exemptions into the Sunshine Tour Final Stage of Qualifying School and 3 Tri Sanctioned Tournaments with the MENA Golf Tour, Sunshine Tour and the Big Easy Tour, the Governing Board also approved the inclusion of The MENA Golf Tour into the OWGR System.

Those aforementioned criteria mean that the MENA Golf Tour now fulfils all of the requirements needed to provide a pathway for the Middle East Region in to the professional world of golf structure. The MENA Golf Tour will be introduced to the OWGR System at minimum points levels of  3 first place points for 54 hole tournaments and 5 first place points for 72 hole tournaments, effective OWGR Week 17 - week ending April 24th 2016.

The Ras Al Khaimah Classic, Tower Links Golf Club, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, taking place May 1st 2016 will be the MENA Golf Tour’s first tournament to be included into the OWGR.
