PGA Tour – Shell Houston Open

American JB Holmes captured his fourth PGA Tour victory with a play-off win at the Houston Open in Humble, Texas.

The 32-year-old world number 20 began the day six back in 18th place but made seven birdies in his first eight holes.

He shot a 64 for a 16-under total, matched by overnight leader Jordan Spieth and Johnson Wagner, and won with a par at the second extra hole.

England's Paul Casey was ninth, four shots back after a one-under 71, and Phil Mickelson tied for 17th.

"I knew I had to play a really low round and I started out great," Holmes said. "It worked out for me."

Five-time major winner Mickelson's round finished in sorry, soggy fashion when he rolled up one trouser leg and attempted to play out of the lake along the left-side of the 18th.

The American could not move his ball and finished with a double bogey six as he ended seven adrift of Holmes.

PGA Tour China – Buick Open

Just about everything dramatic that could have happened did Sunday during the final round of the Buick Open at Mission Hills Golf Club’s Sandbelt Trails Course. When Josh Geary from New Zealand pushed his four-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, he was thinking a playoff with co-leader Yi Cao would determine the winner of the Ping An China Tour season opener.

But at the same time Geary was missing, Cao, the 54 hole co-leader, pulled his second shot on No. 17, leaving himself an awkward 30-yard shot with a bunker in between his ball and the green. That led to a bogey and that late stumble, combined with a closing triple bogey, gave Geary the title.

The first New Zealand Ping An China Tour winner claimed a one-stroke triumph over South Korea’s J.H. Wang. Thailand’s Gunn Charoenkul finished third, two back.

With six birdies and two bogeys during his 4-under 68, Geary finished at 8-under after beginning the day four strokes behind. China’s Cao dropped into a tie for fourth with his bogey and triple bogey on the last two holes.

“I planned to win, and I had a pretty good day,” said the 30-year-old Geary, a veteran of the Web.com Tour, PGA TOUR Canada and the PGA Tour of Australasia. “It was my best round of this week.”

The victory was Geary's third worldwide as a professional. He also won the 2008 Saskatchewan (Canada) Open and the 2013 Western Australia Open.
