Billy Horschel secured an amazing £7million payday by capturing the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta.

The American's closing 68 gave him a three-shot victory in the PGA Tour's season-ending tournament and with it the first prize of £880,000, the overall FedEx Cup title and an incredible £6.2million bonus.

Jim Furyk was tied for the lead with three to play but faltered at the finish and shared second place with a disappointed Rory McIlroy, who had started the day tied with Horschel.

On a dramatic final day, the key moment came at the 16th hole when Horschel looked set to fall back into a tie with Furyk before sinking a 31 foot putt for par.

When Furyk bogeyed 17 after a poor approach, Horschel had breathing space and a three-putt at the last from the veteran American meant Horschel, who also won last week's BMW Championship, teed off at the last with a three-shot lead.

Horschel closed out victory in style with a lovely tee-shot into the heart of the green and two-putted to land his monster payout with a winning score of 11-under.

European Tour - KLM Open

Paul Casey completed a remarkable weekend’s work as a final round 66 saw him win a 13th European Tour title at the KLM Open.

The Englishman was eight strokes adrift at the halfway stage and only made the cut by two shots, but matched the course record with a 62 on Saturday and was imperious again on Sunday as his 14 under par total saw him run out a one shot winner over Simon Dyson at Kennemer Golf & Country Club.

Four behind leader Romain Wattel overnight, Casey raced to the turn in 32 to capture a one shot lead and was never caught on the way in to complete an emotional fortnight.

The 37 year old’s fiancée Pollyanna gave birth to the couple’s son on September 1, with Casey quipping: “First tournament as a Dad and first win as a Dad!"

Romain Wattel held an overnight lead of three shots after a third round 64, but despite nearest challenger Richie Ramsay bogeying two of his first three holes, other players swiftly closed in.

Most prominently, Casey got up-and-down from the edge of the green at the long second for birdie and then hit his tee shot at the par three next to tap-in range.

Web.com – Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship

Justin Thomas won the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship on Sunday for his first Web.com Tour title, beating Richard Sterne with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff.

Thomas hit a wedge from 75 yards to 2 1/2 feet to set up his winning birdie on the par-4 18th. Sterne blew a late three-stroke lead, then missed a birdie putt in the playoff after leaving his approach 20 feet short.

''I just tried to stay patient today and you have to do that here,'' Thomas said. ''I don't want to say it's a relief to win, but it's hard to win with the level of play out here. ... It means you're the best that week and you beat everybody you played against. It's a really cool feeling and it's tough because it doesn't happen very often, especially in professional golf.''

Asian Tour – Yeangder Tournament Players Championship

Prom Meesawat of Thailand captured a long-awaited second Asian Tour victory after defeating Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines on the second extra hole at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC) on Sunday.

Prom, whose first Asian Tour win was in Korea in 2006, forced extra time when he birdied the last hole for a three-under-par 69 to tie with overnight leader Tabuena (71) in regulation play on 11-under-par 277 in the US$500,000 Asian Tour event.

After shooting matching pars on the first play-off hole, Prom needed three shots to safely find the par-five 18th green before sealing the win with a two-putt par as Tabuena narrowly missed his par putt at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club.

Filipino veteran Antonio Lascuna settled for third, one-shot from joining the play-off, following a 69 while rookie Paul Peterson (69) of the United States, Daniel Chopra (72) of Sweden and India’s Anirban Lahiri (73) finished tied for fourth on 280.

Trailing by two shots heading into the last day, Prom produced a battling performance highlighted by four birdies including a clutch 15 feet birdie on the last hole. His only blemish of the day came on hole six.

“I’ve been waiting for this win for a long time! I am really glad I made it. Hopefully I won’t have to wait another eight years to win again! I will be aiming for a third win now and try to boost my ranking on the Order of Merit,” said Prom, who won US$90,000.
