European Tour – DP World Tour Championship

Henrik Stenson successfully defended a title for the first time in his career as the Swede won the season-ending DP World Tour Championship for the second year running following a dramatic final round in Dubai.

Stenson carded a closing 70 at Jumeirah Golf Estates to finish 16 under par, two shots ahead of World Number One Rory McIlroy and Ryder Cup team-mates Justin Rose and Victor Dubuisson.

Ireland's Shane Lowry finished a shot further back in fifth to move into the Official World Golf Ranking’s top 50 and all-but secure a Masters Tournament debut next April.

The victory ensured he finished second in The Race to Dubai with 4981093 points behind McIlroy, whose points tally with the bonus pool added up to 7149503 points.

Rory McIlroy described it as a “great feeling” to win The Race to Dubai for the second time in three years.

The Northern Irishman had already been confirmed as European Number One before his runner-up finish at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai courtesy of a remarkable summer.

Having won The European Tour’s flagship BMW PGA Championship in May, McIlroy went on to add The Open Championship and US PGA Championship either side of a first World Golf Championships victory at the Bridgestone Invitational.

“It's a great feeling to know that I've played the best golf throughout the season of any of the guys for the second time in three years, it's really nice,” said McIlroy, who finished two shots behind Henrik Stenson at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Japan Golf Tour – Dunlop Phoenix

Hideki Matsuyama of Japan beat compatriot Hiroshi Iwata in the first playoff hole to win the Dunlop Phoenix on Sunday.

Matsuyama, who plays primarily on the U.S. PGA tour, started the day with a two-stroke lead and shot a 1-under 70 in regulation before saving par on the extra hole to claim his first victory this season on the Japanese tour.

Iwata began the day seven strokes off the lead and surged up the leaderboard with a 63 to tie Matsuyama at 15-under 269. Matsuyama birdied the final two holes of regulation after bogeys on Nos. 15 and 16.

Jordan Spieth of the United States shot a 69 to finish in a tie for third with Australia's Brendan Jones, who had a 68.

PGA Tour China – The Hainan Open

The Hainan Open came down to a battle for second. So dominant was champion Li Hao Tong that the only intrigue was who would finish just below Li on the leaderboard, the distinction going to Brett Drewitt and Dohyun Kim. The story all day at Luhuitou Golf Club was Li, who won the Hainan Open by six shots.

He also moved into the top spot on the Order of Merit with one tournament to play, and he joined David McKenzie as the only two-time winner on the Tour this season. Li has won his two PGA TOUR China titles by a combined 14 strokes, capturing the Jianye Tianzhu Henan Open in September by eight shots.

PGA Tour of Australasia – BetEasy Masters

South Australian Nick Cullen has won the 2014 BetEasy Masters at Metropolitan Golf Club.

Starting the day two shots off the lead, Cullen fired an impressive 3-under 69 for a tournament total of 9-under 279.

Cullen won the title by just one shot from defending champion Adam Scott, New South Welshman James Nitties and Victorian Josh Younger.

"You always think about winning and you want to win. You envision it but to be sitting here is just unreal," said Cullen in his winner's media conference.

"I wanted to play better, to contend a little bit, be close, but to win the event with guys like Adam Scott and Geoff Ogilvy playing is unreal."

Walking onto the 18th with a one shot lead, Cullen put his approach shot into the bunker, playing one of the best sand shots of his life he had a short par putt to seal the title.

"I hit a great bunker shot and got lucky; I didn't have a very long putt on the last," added Cullen.

"I am glad it wasn't any longer, I was nervous enough over that."

"I was trying to concentrate; I knew Adam was one shot back, so I didn't really want to go into a playoff with him if it came to that."

A relieved and emotional winner, Cullen has secured the biggest win of his career, collecting a pay cheque of AU$180,000 to go with his gold jacket.

Asian Tour – Resorts World Manila Masters presented by 918.com

Overnight leader Mardan Mamat of Singapore ended a two-year title drought by romping to a commanding six-shot victory at the US$1 million Resorts World Manila Masters presented by 918.com on Sunday.

The 47-year-old veteran completed a stylish wire-to wire victory with a final round of three-under-par 69 at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club. His winning total of 20-under-par 268 sealed his fourth Asian Tour success and second in the Philippines.

Frenchman Lionel Weber closed with 70 to finish runner-up for his best result of the season while last year’s runner-up Prom Meesawat of Thailand fired a fine 68 for third place, some eight shots behind the champion in what is the richest tournament in the Philippines.
