PGA Tour – Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard

American Matt Every came through in the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational to register his maiden PGA title at Bay Hill.

A closing 70 from Every was enough to see the 30-year-old from Florida secure a one-shot victory, and a place at next month's Masters, after long-time leader Scott folded with a finishing 76.

Scott, who held a seven shot lead at the halfway stage and was three shots clear overnight, was forced to settle for third place two shots adrift of Every, while Keegan Bradley claimed second.

Scott's playing partner Bradley had looked out of contention after dropping three shots in the first three holes and carding further bogeys on the 10th and 11th, but birdied the 12th, 16th and 17th and narrowly missed from 30ft for another on the last to force a play-off.

A tearful Every, who grew up nearby and used to attend the tournament as a spectator, said: "It's really cool. I have had a lot of looks (at wins) and I kept telling myself maybe it's going to come somewhere special. I still can't believe I won.

Sunshine Tour – Investec Cup

He didn’t know that his nearest pursuer had eagled the 18th, but Trevor Fisher Jnr managed to keep calm as he played out the final hole of the Investec Cup, make par and walk off the green R3.5-million richer.

His one-stroke victory over Jacques Blaauw in the R1-million Sunshine Tour tournament gave him R163,400, but that was small potatoes compared to the bragging rights he has with his eighth Sunshine Tour victory and the winner’s share of the R10-million Bonus Pool of the Chase to the Investec Cup.

It was a win which was greeted with great pleasure from his fellow professionals, not least Blaauw who congratulated him warmly as he teased him with a reeling-in gesture in the clubhouse when it was revealed to Fisher that he in fact had just a one-stroke cushion on that final hole.

It was a closely fought final round as no fewer than five players had a chance of pulling off the victory: George Coetzee had the lead going into the final round and looked as if he was going to pull off the win he needed to get into the Masters. But a pair of double bogeys – the second almost catastrophic on the 12th as Fisher made birdie to hit the front decisively – derailed his victory charge.

Web.com – Panama Claro Championship

Carlos Ortiz is only 22 years old but the Tour rookie from Mexico displayed nerves of a veteran Sunday as he put together a flawless final round at the Panama Claro Championship and earned his first career title on the Web.com Tour.

Ortiz began the last day one shot back of leader and playing partner Aron Price but established himself as the man to beat with three consecutive birdies midway through the front nine at the Panama Golf Club. Ortiz, who now calls Dallas home, moved into the lead when the 31-year old Price stumbled early. A birdie at the par-3, 8th put Ortiz at 10-under and in control. He later added a pair of birdies on the back nine to pull away from the field and finish with a 6-under 64 and a 12-under total of 268.

Veteran Jason Gore did his best to pressure the Tour newcomer but never got closer than three down the stretch. Gore’s 66 was good for solo second but four shots back.

PGA Tour LatinoAmerica - TransAmerican Power Products CRV Open

The Colombian Marcelo Rozo brushed holed a putt four meters for eagle on the second hole of a playoff to claim victory in the Trans American Power Products Open CRV.

The extra session involved seven players who finished the 72 holes of the second tournament of the season the NEC-PGA TOUR Latinoamérica Series tied at 17-under par 267.

Absolute leader by one shot to start the day, Rozo had a chance to win on the 72nd hole, but missed a putt for birdie three meters. Later admitted that nerves will win the game on that decisive moment.

His final round 69 left him tied with Argentine Julian Etulain and Luciano Dodda, Mexican Azcué Mauricio and Roberto Diaz, and Americans Rick Cochran III and Matt Ryan.
