PGA Tour – RBC Canadian Open

Tim Clark rallied to win the Canadian Open on Sunday, birdieing five of the last eight holes for a one-stroke victory over Jim Furyk.

Clark closed with a 5-under 65 at rainy Royal Montreal for his second PGA Tour victory. The 38-year-old South African player also won the 2010 Players Championship.

Furyk, the two-time Canadian Open champion who took a three-stroke lead into the final round, finished with a 69. The 44-year-old American matched Clark with a birdie on the par-3 17th and a par on the par-4 18th.

"It looked like Jim wasn't going to make any mistakes," said Clark, who moved into contention Saturday with a 64. "He was pretty solid, so I knew I had to make birdies. At that point, there was nothing to lose. Suddenly I got hot and I went with it." Tim Clark moves to World No. 75 from 153rd.

European Tour- M2M Russian Open

David Horsey sensationally forced and won a play-off with Damien McGrane to take the M2M Russian Open at Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club.

Horsey had been around the top of the leaderboard for much of the week and was in front when a double bogey at the 12th looked to have cost him victory.

It seemed even more costly when McGrane made three straight birdies from the 15th to move clear in the lead.

However, a bogey at the last, his only dropped shot on Sunday, combined with Horsey chipping in for eagle at the 17th gave the Englishman another chance.

Horsey duly made par on the 18th to end on 13 under and make the Irishman play the final hole again with him on a gloriously sunny afternoon.

Another par four was enough to give him a third European Tour triumph as McGrane was unable to recover from hitting his second shot into a bunker behind the green.

Horsey’s previous victories came in the 2010 BMW International Open and 2011 Trophée Hassan II, also winning the latter in a play-off, and he showed his mettle to deprive McGrane a second European Tour victory.

Challenge Tour - Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge

England’s Andrew Johnston stormed to his second Challenge Tour title in the space of a month after a blistering final round 64 secured a four stroke victory in Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge in France moving to 167th in the World Ranking.

Starting the final round three shots off the pace, Johnston tore through the field with six birdies and an eagle in his last 15 holes for a winning score of 16 under par 268 just four weeks after claiming his maiden title in the Scottish Hydro Challenge hosted by MacDonald Hotels and Resorts.

The result elevates the 25 year old to the top of the Challenge Tour Rankings as he becomes the first player of 2014 to earn more than €100,000 and joins Jake Roos and Moritz Lampert as a two-time winner this season.

Asian Development Tour – Taifong Open

Local sensation Chan Shih-chang survived a five-way play-off to win an unprecedented fourth Asian Development Tour (ADT) title at the Taifong Open on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Chan was the last man standing against overnight leader Hsieh Tung-shu of Chinese Taipei, Sung Mao-chang of Chinese Taipei, Thailand’s Suppakorn Uthaipat and Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines after they tied on four-under-par 212 in regulation play at the Taifong Golf Club.

The decisive play-off, which was played on the 18th hole, saw Sung, Suppakorn and Tabuena bow out in the first extra hole after making par while Chan and Hsieh birdied.

The duo then went the extra distance before Chan sealed the deal with a five-foot eagle putt on the fourth extra hole to defeat Hsieh, who birdied the same hole. They had earlier birdied the second and third play-off holes.

Web.com – Midwest Classic

Alabama’s Zack Sucher wasn’t at his birdie best on Sunday, but his 1-over-par 72 was still good enough to earn his first Web.com Tour win and punch his ticket to the PGA TOUR next year.

The 27-year-old Sucher posted a four-day total of 19-under 265, good for a three-stroke win over Kansas State grad Aaron Watkins, who also shot a 72 at the wind-swept Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in suburban Kansas City.

Veteran Bill Lunde played his final seven holes in five-under par and closed with a 69 that left him in solo third, four shots off the pace. Mississippi rookie Jonathan Randolph’s 67, one of three bogey-free rounds, moved him into fourth place at 14-under while Derek Fathaeur (69) finished fifth.

“I played really well last week and didn’t get it done the last two days,” said Sucher, who finished T4 at the Albertsons Boise Open after sharing the 36-hole lead. “I’m headed to the PGA TOUR and now I can finally stop worrying about it.”

Sucher already had four top-10 finishes prior to this week, but the winner’s check for $108,000 jumped him 16 spots on the money list to No. 4 with only four weeks left in the regular season. His total of $247,318 will be more than enough to earn a place among the top-25 who will advance to the big stage in 2014-15.

Sucher had overpowered the Nicklaus course for the first three rounds and his 20-under total had staked him to a three-shot lead over Watkins heading into the last day. Nobody else was within five shots and the majority thinking was that one of the two in the final group would ultimately hoist the champion’s crystal.

Sunshine Tour - Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung

With a tough victory at Arabella last week still fresh in his mind, Jean Hugo travels to St Francis Links for the Eastern Cape leg of this week’s Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung looking for back-to-back wins on this Sunshine Tour series.

Hugo’s victory in the wind and rain at Arabella marked his ninth triumph in the 11-year history of the Vodacom Origins of Golf, which is the local circuit’s single biggest series of pro-am tournaments.

He is the most dominant player in the history of the six-tournament series, having only had three years since his first victory in 2006 where he hasn’t won a tournament.

Hugo’s best performance on the series came in 2011 when he won three tournaments, including the national final, to tie the record for most wins in a single season on the Vodacom Origins of Golf.

And his ability to grind out a victory in almost any circumstances will make him a threat yet again on the challenging St Francis Links layout.
