Rory McIlroy reclaimed the World Number 1 on Sunday 3rd August as all of the World Top 5 juggled positions.

This week at the PGA Championship at Valhalla any of those 5 players could finish the week as World Number 1.

Here are the scenarios for McIlroy to be overtaken.

An Adam Scott victory would see him return to the top irrespective of McIlroy's finish.

Sergio Garcia needs to win with McIlroy outside the Top 5 and Scott outside the Top 4.

Henrik Stenson needs to win with McIlroy outside the Top 14 and Scott outside the Top 9.

Justin Rose needs to win with McIlroy outside the Top 56 and Scott outside the Top 17.

Only Scott could overhaul McIlroy with less than a victory, in the most extreme case with a Top 20 finish if McIlroy misses the cut and Garcia, Stenson or Rose don't win.
