PGA Tour – The Barclays

Hunter Mahan produced a back nine charge to secure a two-shot victory in The Barclays in New Jersey - the first event of the PGA Tour's four-tournament FedEx Cup finale.

The American, bidding to book a spot on Tom Watson's US Ryder Cup team, came home in 32 to post a winning score of 14-under and land his first PGA Tour win since April 2012.

Stuart Appleby, Cameron Tringale and Jason Day finished in a tie for second while Ernie Els, William McGirt and Matt Kuchar were a further stroke back.

Mahan had started the day a stroke behind Day and Jim Furyk but caught them straight away with a birdie at the very first hole.

He added a birdie at five to reach 10-under but five pars after that saw him stall as a host of players made their moves.

Els, who needed just 23 putts, posted the clubhouse total of 11-under after a 66, but Aussie Appleby came surging past with a run of five birdies in six holes from the turn to reach 12-under.

Appleby dug deep to make three closing pars to set the new mark and it looked set to be matched by Tringale, who had birdied 15, 16 and 17, but the young American, seeking his first PGA Tour win, bogeyed the final hole.

European Tour - D+D REAL Czech Masters

Jamie Donaldson held off the challenges of Søren Kjeldsen and Bradley Dredge to win the D+D REAL Czech Masters and book a Ryder Cup debut at Gleneagles next month.

In need of a top-seven finish to secure a place on Paul McGinley’s European Team, the Welshman completed the task in style by claiming a third European Tour title at Albatross Golf Resort in Prague.

A four under par 68 saw him reverse a two shot deficit on compatriot Dredge by finishing with a 14 under total.

“This is big – it’s been an amazing week,” said Donaldson.

“I didn’t get here until late; I needed to play well either this week or next week, or both, to guarantee my place in The Ryder Cup Team so there was a lot on the line and this week I played really well, so that’s great.

“Winning is everything: wins shoot you up world rankings, Race To Dubai, all sorts. Its massive - those three last holes coming in there were really tough with the wind blowing, so I’m just really happy to seal it.

Web.com - WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft

Carlos Ortiz capped off a regular season to remember Sunday by winning the WinCo Foods Portland Open and earning fully exempt status for the 2014-15 PGA TOUR wraparound season, which begins in October.

Ortiz, a 23-year-old rookie from Mexico, shot an even-par 71 at the Witch Hollow course at Pumpkin Ridge to finish with a 14-under 270 total, one stroke better than Jason Gore (66) and Adam Hadwin (70).

The victory was worth $144,000 to Ortiz, who has stood atop the money list since April, and solidified his position at No. 1 as the Tour enters its four-tournament Finals series that will ultimately determine the final money positions.

Win No. 3 pushed his season earnings to $515,403 – the third highest single-season in Tour history.

“I didn’t envision any of this. To be honest, I came out this year without any expectations,” said Ortiz, who enjoyed a solid but not spectacular college career at the University of North Texas in Denton. “I realized early that if I was able to play good I would be able to win on this Tour.”

Challenge Tour – Rolex Trophy

Byeong-hun An claimed his maiden European Challenge Tour title after a superlative final round 64 earned him a three shot victory at the Rolex Trophy, becoming the first Korean to win on Europe’s top developmental tour.

The 23 year old, who still holds the record as youngest player to win the US Amateur Championship having won in 2009, began the day an incredible seven shots off the pace but reeled off eight birdies in a stunning eight under par final round to finish on 19 under for the tournament.

Five birdies the seven holes after the turn were enough to secure his place in Challenge Tour history and move to fourth in the Rankings on €85,677, making the Orlando-based player a virtual certainty for The European Tour next year.

The 2014 season has been a breakthrough campaign for a player upon whose shoulders much expectation rested when he arrived on the Challenge Tour in 2012 - becoming the first player from the Asian nation to earn a card for Europe’s second tier - following a stellar amateur career.

An was thrilled to finally earn a first professional title having finished runner-up three times in the last two seasons.

“It is my first professional win and I’m so happy,” said the Seoul-born player. “I had a lot chances to win this season but every time I finished second or fourth.

Korean Golf Tour – Vainer-Pineridge Open

Sang Hyun Park closed with a 4-under-par 67 to win the Vainer Championship by one shot over Maeng Dong Seop. Park fired a four round total of 15-under-par 269 claiming 6 World Ranking Points moving to 240th in the Ranking.

Asian Development Tour – Ciputra Golfpreneur

James Byrne of Scotland produced a grandstand finish when he holed a remarkable eagle on the last to win the US$100,000 Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament by three shots on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Byrne fired three birdies in each half and sealed the deal with a 40-foot eagle putt for a flawless eight-under-par 64 to bag his second Asian Development Tour (ADT) title at the Damai Indah Golf, BSD Course.

Tour rookie William Sjaichudin (65) raised local cheers by claiming his best result on the ADT in tied second alongside overnight leader Brett Munson (70) of the United States on 274.

Malaysia’s Arie Irawan (70), Nils Floren (67) of Sweden, Anura Rohana (68) of Sri Lanka and Annop Tangkamolprasert (67) of Thailand finished a further shot back in tied fourth in the inaugural ADT event.

Byrne, a former Walker Cup star, was delighted to return into the winners’ circle after enduring a frustrating 2013 Asian Tour season where he lost his Tour card.

He hopes that his victory in Indonesia, which pushed him to eighth position on the ADT Order of Merit, will be a sign of better things to come as he aims to finish inside the top-five on the Merit rankings at the end of the season to regain an Asian Tour card for 2015.

“This is by far my most satisfying win,” smiled the dashing Byrne, who prior to his victory only made three cuts in eight appearances on the ADT this season.

PGA Tour Canada – The Great Waterway Classic

With a two-putt birdie on the 72nd hole, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia’s David Bradshaw claimed his first PGA TOUR Canada win on Sunday, capturing The Great Waterway Classic at Loyalist Golf & Country Club.

Bradshaw, a 31-year old Shepherd University graduate, fired a final round 5-under 67 to post 21-under total, securing the win with a two-putt from 25 feet for birdie at the last. Bradshaw won by a shot over Argentina’s Tommy Cocha and Jupiter, Florida’s Adam Long.

“It was a good day. I started out so hot, and then things kind of got a little muddy in the middle, but I closed the deal and a win’s a win,” said Bradshaw, who was the medalist by eight shots at the British Columbia Qualifying Tournament earlier this May.

Bradshaw began the day by finishing up the third round, which was suspended due to darkness on Saturday, with birdies on each of his final two holes to share the 54-hole lead with Kitchener, Ontario’s Chris Hemmerich. He then birdied five of his first seven holes of the final round to jump out in front at 21-under ahead of Long and Cocha, playing one group ahead of Bradshaw, Hemmerich and Burlington, Ontario’s Michael Gligic.
