Stephen Ames, Trinidad born but now a Canadian citizen, won THE PLAYERS Championship by a record equaling six stroke margin over World Number 3 Retief Goosen. Ames, whose final round of 67 was the days best by two strokes, climbs 37 places to 27th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Stephen Ames, Trinidad born but now a Canadian citizen, won THE PLAYERS Championship by a record equaling six stroke margin over World Number 3 Retief Goosen. Ames, whose final round of 67 was the days best by two strokes, climbs 37 places to 27th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Jean Van de Velde from France secured his second European Tour title with a one stroke victory over 2004 Challenge Tour Rankings winner Lee Slattery at the Madeira Island Open. Van de Velde jumps from World Number 295 to 135.

This week’s other winners were Johnson Wagner at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open on the Nationwide Tour and Matt Hansen at the Northern California Classic on the Canadian Tour.
